New Adventure

We have managed to move into our new home this past week end. The cats are having a wonderful time trying to navigate around the furniture and boxes. Rebel has even managed to negotiate the stairs a few times. Napoleon is thrilled he can explore the basement while Tom is enjoying all sorts of new hiding spots to keep out of Napoleon`s reach.
We are all sleeping much better. It`s amazing how much more comfortable you can be when you don`t have to worry about neighbours or bad influences. The highlight for me has been the dish washer. It is amazing to come home from work and all I have to do is push a button.
I`m still a little lost because all my belongings are scattered throughout our home. I keep telling myself that it will all find their proper place in time. After all, it`s not like I have to hurry and have it all complete by a certain time. I just try to unpack at least one box and clean something very thoroughly a day. At least the PC and television are unpacked. I even have a few of my projects around me to pass some time.
As soon as I locate the camera I will be sure to take pictures to show you.

Little Napoleon

He actually does sleep!

In other Napoleon news....
The Vet will be ordering pills for the fuzzy child to help control his twitching. Napoleon`s twitching, not the Vet`s. I`m not honestly sure if the Vet twitches or not. I`ve never actually met the Vet. The last appointment was in the afternoon when I was sleeping to prepare for night shift. Apparently, the twitches that Napoleon experiences are rather unusual in that they happen so often. The vet office do not keeps these magical pills on hand and they have to be specially ordered.

I really hope these pills work.

New PC

I was really frustrated with waiting forever and a day for things to load properly. Last week I decided to screw waiting until we move and just go out and buy another one. I am quite happy I made that decision. Now I am working with a machine I do not need to beg to turn on or just load something this century. It just does what it is supposed to do. I`m really pleased. It`s all so shiney and new. There are even letters on the keyboard. My old keyboard did not have all the letters because of all the use.
February 1st is our official moving day. I had to check the calendar and was relieved to learn I do not work that day. That will make things so much less stressful. I am still keeping on eye on Rebel in case he accidentally gets packed into a box. Poor old guy does move as fast as he used to and the kids are packing anything and everything they can get their hands on.
I also finished a set of mittens for January. This is the pattern I used for Ruba`iyat Mittens, created by Heather Desserud. There are a few errors on one of the mittens I created, but for once, not enough to make me want to rip the mitten apart and begin again.

I`m quite pleased!

I posted something on Facebook the other day that had caught my attention when I was glancing through the boy`s homework:
Why are elementary students allowed to address their teachers by their first names?
I was surprised at the mixed opinions. I am really uncomfortable with students calling their profs by their given names. I guess it is old fashioned and times are changing. For me, it is not only just the idea of tradition but also a sign of respect. It creates a very important boundary. This also reminded me of all the stories in the news about teachers having sexual relations with their students. It`s not that I assume the two thoughts are dependant upon each; it is just another factor I think about when students are too chummy with their teachers. Teachers can be your friend, but their primary concern is to have a young person`s mind prepared to enter into the real world. Parents should be helping by arming their young charges with proper decorum, social skills, common sense and all that good stuff. I guess there are worse things to be concerned about than how your children address their teacher. This was just my little thought for the day.

Now for something less serious:
Rebel is packed and ready to move into our new home!

Happy Days

Bear with me, I've been drinkin'
Thank goodness for spell check
Lots of happenings around here.
My living room is filled with boxes....again!
Yep! We're moving. On to bigger and better things. I think I've mentioned this already?
Pretty sure I have.
My brain is just all over the place right now. At least it's in a happy place!
I've been thinking a lot lately. Which is why I started typing away in the first place.
I'm in a happy place and I've not been this happy for some time.
I'm sitting in my living room with a bunch of boxes, three cats running around, Hubby in the shower, one child drawing pics of Alvin and the Chipmunks, one child at a friend's house doing I don't know what and just hanging out. I think this is called family life. It's a nice feeling. As a bonus, I don't have to work tonight!!!
I don't have a worry in the world right now. I'm not worried about what to make for dinner, money, the noise upstairs, driving anywhere. I'm just enjoying myself.
We are also experiencing our first winter storm. The living room has lit up with blue lights about six times since the snow began.
It's a good night to stay in. We will watch a film and I think call it a night.
Tomorrow we will be responsible.
I hope everyone is having a good Friday night.
Cheers.
Is that more wine?

12 Mittens

I read something on Ravelry the other day: 12 Mittens in 12 Months.
I think I'll give this a go.
Perhaps you would like to join me?
It doesn't have to be mittens. It can be maybe scarves, socks, toques etc. etc.
I think this sounds like a good challenge for a new year.

On a side note, I have not yet purchased my new computer. I will be waiting until after we move into our new house!
We found this ideal place on the other side of town with more bedrooms, more yard, more possibilities and most importantly, less crazy!!
I'll post pics when we move in.
I hope everyone is enjoying their day!

Merry Christmas

Well that went by awfully quick eh? I hope everyone has survived and came out a little happier, more relaxed and surrounded by the people that love you. If that fails, I hope you had sufficient booze. I actually worked through Christmas. I didn't really mind. I enjoy my work. I was still able to spend time with my family. I did miss the big dinner but that has been merely postponed. We will all travel to my Mom's for New Year's. I think she is more excited than we are. She has been planning for a few months. This will be the kids' first trip to Ontario and I think they are a little worried. The only thing about which I'm a little apprehensive is the long drive for them to keep occupied. Then I remember it's not like how my sister and I were young children. We had our books and Walkman's with batteries that would last about one hour tops and then had to listen to my parent's music for the remainder of the trip. Now they have their DS's,Ipods and whatever little electronic thing to amuse them in a car for a few hours.
This was my first Christmas with children. It was definitely an amazing experience and I hope that I have many more to follow. The kids were thrilled with their presents. I believe it took them 2.7 minutes to open everything. That's has to be some sort of record right? One item has to be exchanged for a larger size. You would think I would have learned from a past boxing day experience not to go out there! It's like a zombie apocalypse or something. I thought it would be a little easier because we would leave for the mall when I finished work. It was actually easier, but we were missing a few details.
We arrived at the mall at 10h00. We thought it weird that were not that many vehicles in the parking lot but figured we were just lucky.
Then we noticed a huge line forming outside Future Shop.
Ok.
That's a bit odd.
Oh well.
We continue to the mall.
All the stores are locked up.
Oh.
Maybe they open at 11h00 today.
As we are waiting outside this particular store to make the exchange a security guard that sort of reminds me of a Smurf informs us that the stores will not open until 13h00 and will not do exchanges. If the store opens prior, it will a 3000$ fine.
We make the decision to wait until after New Year's to do our little exchange as we notice the crowds start to form outside all of the stores. I don't like people enough to spend this much time in a line waiting to do a less than ten minute transaction.
Well then, let's share some pics!
Our Christmas tree:
No, I didn't toilet paper our tree. That is ribbon. ;)

Very important coffee!!!!

Hubby opening/examining his gift.

Napoleon pretending to be a present.

Rebel being "amused"...

Tom not being amused by anything..
There are pics of the human children, but I feel weird about posting pictures of children online.

Looking at the date at the bottom of my screen, I realize I'm a bit late, but
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope this year will be everything that you need it to be.
Cheers!

Suggestions?

Anyone?
I am in the market for a new computer. The one I'm currently using is a re-furbished Gateway model. It has Windows 7. That is about all I can sadly tell you at this point. My PC skills are basically pushing buttons to see what they do and hope nothing disappears on a permanent basis.
I pretty much just use my computer for games and researching recipes and knit patterns. In the future I might be using it for work related purposes that I cannot really get into at this point. I would appreciate any suggestions that any of you kind readers can tell me.
That's about all that is going on in my little world. See you later. :D
