Proper Motivation

I accomplished quite a bit today. Apparently, I just needed the proper motivation!
Someone has gone back on a deal that was made verbally. This has upset me a fair deal. No worries though. Things always come back on you. I'm a big fan of Karma. :) When I'm upset, I might dwell for a bit. Then I dust myself off and formulate a plan or just keep busy until a plan develops.

I finally finished my love seat.
It used to look like this:

The fabric was all loose. It looked like a slip cover.

Then Napoleon "helped" me fasten the loose fabric under the love seat. Now it looks like this:

Napoleon approves.

I also worked on my sock:

I'm so sorry. I have lost the instructions and I cannot for the life of me remember the name of this pattern. I will go through my archives so I can give the creator the proper courtesy they deserve. Ha! My yarn choice matches my pj's. I had no idea until I just looked at this photo. :)

Here is a close up of the pattern:

Pretty cool eh?

I've also been taking my aggression out on monsters and playing Dark Cloud 2.

The aspect of this game that I really love is that you build items. It is very similar to the first of this series. Maybe it's the nesting aspect of my personality that really draws me to these games. The story line is also amazing to boot.

Well I've settled down quite a bit now. I'm going to harvest things on Farmville and continue to watch the snow fall.

Enjoy the rest of your week end everyone :)

It's Wednesday?

Well that arrived awful quick. Last I remember I was driving back from Quebec. It was a long week end for us in Ontario. We celebrated Family Day on Monday. I spent my week end with a new addition to my family. :) I had an amazing time. Because of the distance, we celebrated Valentine's Day a week late. It was worth it.

I don't really want to say too much yet. I'm sure I will at a later time.

A co-worker was going through her Mom's belongings. Her Mom had moved into a different kind of living arrangement. In the process, co-worker came across a ton of knitting tools. She brought these into work for those of us who knit to peruse.

There are these circular needles in the mix that I absolutely love! The joint from the wire that connects to the needles are so smooth. I attribute that to the fact it is made of plastic and formed as one piece rather than having a join. At any rate, I love them. The yarn passes so smoothly over that little join.

Since I have completed my mittens, I was looking for another project. I decided to work on another pair of socks. They give my brain a bit of a rest after such an intense period of creativity.

I love self stripping yarn. It makes your project looks so much more complex than it is. I am really liking this mix. I do not have red and black stripe socks yet. :)

Well that is about all that is happening in my little world right now. My brain is still recovering from the week end. I hope you have been enjoying your week and the weather is to your liking. It's been a bit of a reprieve here from the colder temperatures. I never thought I would ever consider -10C balmy. Ah well. Winter in Canada. Such an adventure. Enjoy your day tomorrow. :)

Super Hero Mittens

...because everyone needs a little help on the playground!

I'm working on the pattern now and hope to have it available by the end of this week. :D

Over a Year

It has been over a year since I moved into my own little apartment. Man. What a ride. I've learned I can do things all by myself. I can ask for help. I can accept help. I can love and be loved. I can be choosy and not settle. I can cook. I can create. I can cry. I can smile. I can be happy.

I'm proud of myself.

Hearing Has Been Restored

Saturday was amazing!!! I went with some friends to go see The Headstones at the Sound Academy.

This is a group who has not played together since 2003 if I'm not mistaken. When a friend told me they were playing again, I knew I had to see them live. The last time was at Nickel Beach in Port Colborne. The only difference I could tell from their last performance was that they were sober and had a bit less hair. Other than that, they still rocked....loud....the ringing in my ears has finally stopped today. Bonus for the people I work with.

The crowd in attendance was all over the map. All age groups were covered. I love that at a show. Just means we can still rock with the younger crowd and usually surpass them :P. After all, we've had more practice. There was this one guy who you couldn't miss. He had a huge red mohawk. Every time you caught sight of him, he was missing another article clothing. It was like a twisted Where's Waldo game.

This is from the Sound Academy. It sort of gives you an idea of what the show was like:

This was such a great night. I hope you all enjoyed your week ends. I know I did!!!

One Down

Today was sort of lazy Sunday. I finished one mitten while watching Julie & Julia. I bought this movie because of Meryl Streep. I've loved her in just about anything she has ever done. I actually did laugh out loud at quite a few parts. I thought her version of Julia Child was excellent!

This is the mitten I completed:

It is from a pattern called Newfoundland Mitts which I found here!

It is actually my second try. I first try was quickly frogged after I realized I had miscounted:

The circles should not be lined up liked that.

I also made myself a great supper tonight! Beef Teriyaki Stir Fry.

I cook my beef separately in teriyaki sauce with a bit of garlic.

I cooked it separately so I know it would be cooked clean through.

My vegetables are in a pre-heated wok with oil, garlic, ginger and a bit of sauce

Just a mix of sweet peas, broccoli, carrots, onion and mushrooms.

Mixed with my long grain brown rice:

Most of my time is spent chopping up the veggies. It is worth it. Good thing. I made enough for my lunch and supper again!

Hope you all had a fantastic week end. It went by awful quick didn't it? Have a great Monday. See you all later. :D

New Mittens!!

Not only have I been searching for a coffee grinder, but I've been hard at work creating a few new patterns.

I have recently completed this one for a special friend's daughter:

The link for this pattern can be found on Ravelry!

I hope you like it. :D
