Storm is Threaten'....

My constant companion for the last three days has been a killer headache. It really halted my progress on anything. I suspect it is weather and stress related.
I also did a number on my hand. I wasn't paying attention and a little incident with a kitchen knife. :(

It's starting to heal.....finally. It made knitting quite awkward.

Oooh! speaking of knitting..Like that segue? I have completed two of my three Transformer Beanies!

Rebel approves.

With the colder weather about I have been looking at comfort food. This was my lunch today:

Tomato soup with Rye bread.

As a snack I had a pomegranate.

I love these things. You have to be very patient to eat them.

Well, I'm off to work on toque number three. Have a great Sunday everyone :D

Divorcée

Tonight I officially started that whole divorce process. We signed what I like to call phase one. From what I understand, the paperwork now gets sent to our nation's capital. Somewhere between six and ten weeks, the paperwork goes before a judge who will then sign off on it. There are more steps involved I'm sure, but that is the gist of the evening's events. This might explain that hyper anxiety I was feeling over the week end. When the actual signing took place though, I was strangely unaffected. I think I've just come to terms with the whole ordeal and I'm satisfied with how things are turning out. I've not felt this happy or relieved in such a long time it astounds even me and I'm directly involved.

I did finish up a knitting project this week end.

I hope the recipient likes them.

Napoleon is not really that impressed.

He does not like when I spend time with anything that is not him.

I was also working on toques for a client. I'm going to have to rip them apart....again. These little tykes have surprisingly large noggins.

I found a cheap attachment thing for my headphones for my PC at WalMart. I really missed my music. It helps keep track of time and just forget about whatever happening in the day. I guess the proper term would be an adapter of some sort. It has the pink and green ends that fit in the tower and another part that your headphones plug into. I'm very happy I found this little device. Now I can rock out into the night.

This is the song that stuck in my brain at the moment:

Catchy isn't it?

It feels like things are happening now. Soon I will have this little piece of paper that says I am no longer married. I'm good with this. :) A whole new set of adventures will happening. I am in a very good state of mind. :D

Questions I Have

I always have questions. They are usually questions that deal with my own state of mind. I am not vocal with my feelings. I like to squish them down and try and forget about them. I know. That is not healthy. It is how I deal with things. That was actually the reason why I started this little blog. It was an avenue for me to just ramble on about whatever popped into my head. It has helped. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but I have.
So what do you all do when you start to feel anxious? I have this little feeling in the back of my mind that something is going to happen. I'm not sure if it will be positive or negative. That does not help with the anxiety. Then again, maybe nothing will happen at all. Maybe I am thinking way too much internally and should just relax and let whatever may come happen and not worry. Yea. I don't see that happening either. I've always been a worrier. I come by it honestly. My mom worries about everything as well.
This week end I am going to make it a point to just relax and try to forget about all those pesky little things. I have a bunch of televisions show to catch up and several knit projects to complete as well as some drawings and paintings to work on. That's my plan anyway.
If anyone has some strategies on how they deal with stress, I would love to hear them.
Talk with you all later. :)

AKC

I finally learned what that means. Actual Knitting Content :) If it were not for google, I would be clueless with all those little acronyms you see in the online forums.
I have been knitting like a fiend lately. That's what happens when hockey season begins. I have a plan with regards to all that left sock yarn in my stash. I've been storing it in a plastic bag in my stash trunk for when I have an idea of what to do with it all.

I can make these little squares in all sizes and later sew them together. The goal is to actually make a blanket. If my attention span runs out, they could possibly become a scarf or a scary amount of dish clothes. We will have to wait and see how this plays out.

I've also been working on Ocean Toes socks from Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Sock Knitters.

The yarn I'm using is called Ravish Me. its Superwash fingering Merino from Jumbo Gems. I ordered this online ages ago. I actually ordered two skeins of what I thought was the same colour but it turns out one has more pinks and reds than the other skein. I'm ok with that. It makes things more interesting, difficult to photograph though. A variegated yarn never shows up the pattern for me when I try to take pictures of it.

Finally, I've been working on some toques for a few people based on my Transformer design. I hope I'm not sick of this pattern by the end of this experience.

So far I'm enjoying it. I work on them when I catch up on my television programs, like Dexter, Bored to Death, and In Treatment.

Alright. That covers the knitting content!

I also made banana bread.

It might have made a thunk sound when I took it out of the pan....It is still really tasty though. The fuzzy demon children love it.

This has been one of my frustrations for the week:

...my laundry. I have had this one load of laundry sitting there, all ready to go, for one week. Every time I check to see if there are machines available, I'm foiled. Yesterday, I went down to the laundry room to check. There were all sorts of machines available. I literally ran up the four flights of stairs, because the elevator is way too slow, to grab my laundry. By the time I returned, all the machines were occupied. I think it's a conspiracy. Someone must wait to see if I am in need of a machine. So this will be my new mission this week. To complete my laundry.

My camera is still not working. I just learned that I can take pictures as long as I do not use the flash. It just means I have to hold really still to snap a pic. Yea for challenges. lol.
I think that covers my week. I hope you all have a great week end and the time change didn't interfere too much with your activities.

My Poor Coffee Maker

I think I killed it. :( Cue sad music. I thought I would be really responsible and try to clean the wonderful machine. It has after all provided those around me with a fair chance at life. Me without caffeine is a very scary thing. So I cleaned up the black and chrome device and realized the inside was pretty gross looking. That commercial said CLR is great for cleaning these types of things. I thought I would give that a go. It did do wonders on my shower head. I ran the mixture of CLR and some water to dilute it through the machine. The little beeping that happens cued it was complete. I waited a little and tried to run just clean water through to get rid of all the chemical. All it did was beep. The water never ran itself through the machine. I then went online to see if anyone had any suggestions. There was one suggestion that said unplug it for an hour. I did that. I tried again. Nada. Still just beeping. I'm getting a little worried now. I unplugged it for three hours. Tried another time. Nope. The machine will not put the water through. :( When I get home from work tonight I think I will take it apart and see what is going on. I can't possibly do any more damage to the poor little device.
Let us recap then. My headset for my pc has gone under the radar. It likes to remain undetected. My camera has gone into vampire mode. My coffee maker just wants to beep. I should stay away from all small appliances and electronic devices. I wonder if I can train the cats to operate those. They can't do anymore damage than I have done.
I was surfing the net this morning and came across an interesting article involving Randy Quaid. You all remember Randy? He was in such movies as the National Lampoons Vacation movies, Caddyshack, Moving, and a ton of other flicks. I actually had no idea how many films he has been in. Anyways, the article goes on to mention how Mr. Quaid and his wife would like to seek asylum in Canada. They fear for their lives. Their friends have been getting picked off one by and one and they worry they are next. I thought that was very interesting. I've never had that level paranoia myself. I don't think I could pull it off as successfully.
I'm off to dismantle a coffee maker and work on a pair of socks. See you all later.

Time For New Adventures

I feel like I took a big adult step today. Granted, I have been an adult for quite some time, but some days it felt like I was just playing at being a grown up.
My old Dodge has now been retired. I thought I'd be a little more emotional. Not over the actual retiring of the truck, but what the truck represented. It was my first vehicle that I purchased with my ex-husband. It did have a lot of memories with all the little adventures we experienced. Now I'm more relieved than anything for a few reasons. The first is I do not have to worry about being stranded on the side of the road. The second is that I'm happy I can start a whole new bunch of memories and adventures. I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. It was the last major tie to a part of my past.

I made a few attempts to take pictures to share with you all, but apparently my camera has retreated into vampire mode. I'm trying to fix that.

The camera does not like daylight.

It does look pretty bad ass eh?

The first vehicle that I have acquired on my own. I am thrilled!! I did have a very awesome friend negotiate the deal for me. I'm the first to admit my negotiation tactics are very poor. I'm happy with the outcome. I haven't stopped grinning since I had the keys placed in my hand.

Just thought I'd share that with you all. I'm off to watch the hockey game. Have a great week end.

Happy Thanksgiving

It is our Canadian thanksgiving this week end. Some of us are sweating in our kitchens trying to out do what Mom always made look simple. Some of us are drooling in anticipation of someone else' kitchen adventures. Others are rather low key. They have their video's or games picked up for the awesome long week end and looking forward to just trying to decompress. Whatever you are up to this week end, I hope it is everything you expect and more.
In a few hours I'm off to visit with my parents. They are actually in their camper staying not to far from where I live. Their camper is actually quite a nice set up. It has more space than most apartments I've seen. Hopefully I can take some very cool scenery pictures. The leaves this year have the most colour change than we have seen in a very long time. They have actually just started to really change around my place. This is another reason why I love my country. You can't capture these true colours on canvas, although we keep trying.
I've been lying low since I felt so under the weather this week. I've just been watching television and hanging out with the fuzzies. They are great company. We watched the hockey games, and whatever movies came on television. I have to replace the speaker set for my pc. Apparently they have had a fallen out and my computer will no longer recognize my speakers. I have had to write down the shows that I really want to watch for when I find speakers that are compatible. I just have one episode left of The United States of Tara and its killing me I can't watch it. argghhh.
At least hockey is back! Even Rebel is right into it:

It is a little blurry, but Leafs just scored on the Senators for the fourth time.

Napoleon couldn't care less:

While I watch television, I just can't sit there and absorb whatever is going on. I have to be moving or thinking. So I worked on my painting:

February is coming along nicely if I do say so myself.

I knit on a pair of socks that I started during the Sock Knitters Pentathlon from 2008! They are called Summer Olympic Socks. I just never finished them. Then I started to go through that personal stuff. I must have just tucked everything away into boxes. I found these unfinished relics in a box with some comic books. At least I had some system to my madness, all my favourite things in a box together.

Now I can move the dial on the progress tab in my Ravelry projects.

Speaking of Ravelry projects...how is that for a segue? This is the reason why I started to create my own little patterns:

Just not enough strength to try and get my pattern out from under Rebel. He is a really big cat with a thing for paper. I find it best not to argue. Eventually he eventually he gets hunger and moves.
Napoleon just makes it difficult for me to find my yarn:

That is all that is happening in my little world at the moment. When I get back, maybe I can share some autumn pictures with you all.
Happy Thanksgiving!
