Fightin' and Knittin'

On Saturday, we went to sparfest at the club where Hubby trains. He said he had a great time.

He does look really strong and well positioned when he fights.

I finished my bits on the Traveling Scarves groups:



Mine is the purple. I did checker board type thing. It didn't show up on the camera as nicely as I would have hoped.

I am going to send them separately to the next person. I found it a scouch overwhelming to have both to contend with.

I like the overall look of the scarves. I would be pleased to receive these. My goal in adding my bits is try and make them look cohesive. I like the challenge.

I contributed the brown section on this one. I tried to do a basket type look. I like the effect.


I had some trouble with this yarn.


I love how it feels, but it splits super easy and I found myself constantly tinkering with it to make it straight again. I don't think I would select this one again to make anything large with. It is just too troublesome.

I will probably start those about mid week.

Always listen to the wool. Wool is your friend.

I also picked up the wool for my sock group at the local yarn store.

I think it may glow in the dark. I like different. Can you tell? hehe.

These are heirloom beans. That is why they are purple. I haven't tried them yet, but I hear good things about them.

Here are Hubby's long awaited Jalapeno peppers. They are all his. I cannot tolerate the heat. I think it would make a lovely painting though.



I was looking at the line up for television. I am a happy little camper. The new cycle of America's Next Top Model has started. I like the spin with the trans-gender Isis. I see that The Sarah O'Connor Chronicles will start tomorrow. The new show Fringe looks exciting. I am a bit disappointed that the last two shows of Flashpoint were repeats. I hope this is not a bad omen. Thank goodness for the internet. I get to catch up on all the other shows that will start up soon, House, Saving Grace, and Weeds. The ones I'm looking out for should be starting soon as well: The Big Bang Theory, Reaper, and Beauty and the Geek. My goodness, I love my television.

They're Here!

I've been waiting for these to arrive since I learned they had been sent out. I'm very excited. I'm not sure what my little bits will be.

Did anyone else find it a terribly long week?
The little darlings are now in school where I live. I've been talking with loads of anxious, demanding, friendly, aggressive, scary parents all week. I am so happy to be home now and away from all that chaos I'm actually just sitting here with nothing turned on (except the PC of course!). I usually have music or the television on in the background. I hate to feel alone. The other voices, even if generated, are a comfort to me.

Tomorrow we will be at Sparfest. This is an informal kick boxing event where fighters just try out their combinations and learn more about where they need to improve. Hubby is stoked!


I'm off to plan what I will be contributing to those scarves. Enjoy the night everyone. As soon as I complete my projects, I will share a few pics with you all.

It Had to Come to an End Sometime

I had a great Labour Day week end. We had a surprise visit from my parents. They just decided it was time to leave the cocoon and visit the daughters. My sister's place is next on their agenda. We did a few things while they were here. My husband and Step-father saw the The Steam Era fair with my father-in-law. I took my Mom gallivanting around the nearby towns. We had a great lunch/breakfast. (I like to start breaky around noonish, Mom is partial to actually eating breakfast in the designating morning hours.) After our meals, we went to Chapters. I bought a few books. One of which I have been waiting for, for quite some time.

I love this author. I find her clever and witty and I actually laugh out loud at some of the scenarios her characters experience.


I enjoyed this author's Mistress of Death so much, I readily acquired this book:


I also completed my Rattlesnake Creek Socks well before the close of the time limit, 2245h as opposed to 2356h from the last session.



Upon this completion, I have ample time to properly begin the Smelly Socks:

Just a Thank You Please

It must be really difficult for people to say thank you, job well done. Work has not been a lot of fun as of late. I am doing my work, plus someone else's workload because she is not the brightest bulb in the tanning bed. Most days I'm not getting home until almost 2200. It blows. I have a schedule for my sleep time. I need only four hours, but they have to be in the right section of the day or I am not rested. I don't mind the work. Actually, I quite enjoy it if truth be told. All I would really ask for is a simple Thank You.
At the moment, I'm getting a:
Why isn't this done yet?
Are you sure that will be ready?
Do you think we should call so and so to do this?
Can you do this as well that please?
My response today was unfortunately, not a nice one. It went something like:
It is not completed yet because 2nd in command has demanded this; So and so has demanded this; and you have asked for that. I can finish all these tasks, however not in an instant. So....Please, I ask you, back the fuck up.
Yep. I dropped the F bomb. Not my proudest moment. I am still ashamed by its use. It was however, effective. I was left alone for an hour to complete all the above tasks.
Now that wasn't so hard was it?

A New Week

I get very stressed this time of year. At this juncture, I map and assign all the new school routes for the drivers. We acquired some of these routes very late in the game. As a result, I stayed very late on Friday. I even met (scared) the security guard that is posted in our yard to ward off vandals. When I finally arrived home, I was actually dizzy. I hate that feeling. To reward myself for being such a "team player", we went shopping!!! I found some very awesome boots and shoes.

I can't wait until fall so I can wear these babies:

I love my foot wear to be a different ilk from other people's. Why wear the same style of shoe? That the joy of people. We are all so very different. I love to reflect this in my clothing and hair. That's why every once in a while, I have blue, green, sometimes purple hair. Its fun. I enjoy it. No one gets hurt.


I noticed that when I'm not quite right, neither are the cats. I've been lazing around all weekend. So have they:

Napoleon just sort of collapsed after he had his kibble.


Rebel was maintaining his battle station, but quickly became tuckered out.


Poor little fellows, they are not used to 13 hour shifts.


I've also been working on my Rattlesnake Creek Socks. For this one, I have about two more inches, then I complete the toe. Now that I am more familiar with the pattern, the second should move more smoothly. I had a difficult time trying to figure out how to do the foot. I didn't need to continue the pattern along the sole, but I had no clue how to make a transition from instep to sole without it looking odd. Two tries later, I have this:


Tomorrow is our big start-up meeting. I'm going to read a few pages in my book and hope that settles me down enough to sleep.

Ready to Go

I completed my section for a traveling scarf. I'm quite pleased. My goal was to try and make it look like it belonged to the scarf. I did not want it to appear just tacked on. I do after all, have standards.

I have completed my Philosopher's Socks. I am very happy with these little socks. They fit perfectly.


I had a rough start to my day this morning. I have been experiencing the worst allergies in quite some time. It never seems to stop. I ended up taking a personal day because I can't stop sneezing or blowing my nose or even think straight with all this added pressure in my head. I hope it ends soon. At least the sun is showing itself today!
