Fun Times

After work today, Hubby and I went to the LYS. (I have just discovered what this acronym stands for: Local Yarn Shop; How clever.) I love the lady that runs the store. She is truly an awesome person. Always has a smile and very quick witted. That alone gets my respect.
Anyway, a purchase was made:

But wait! There is more:

Can you see that? It comes with a matching thread for re-enforcing the heels if you so choose. How excellent! The colours just screamed at me: Hey! Hey you! I'm coming home with you!
Who am I to argue with the yarn?
I have never actually re-enforced a heel. I'm very willing to give it a go. I feel motivated!
I think I made the correct choice. Napoleon approves:

We also found some cool games:

I am looking forward to playing that brawling one with some friends that are coming over tomorrow night.
A co-worker was going through some closets in her home, (as opposed to someone else's closets,) and sent these little gems my way:

I see a little funky sweater in the mix.
I am going to have one busy week end. Knitting and gaming, oh my.
I hope you are all well. Have a great night.

Frog It

I just cannot seem to make socks for little feet. They turn out miles to large. The poor little dear will swimming in them. I've frogged it three times so far.

Yarn : 3 Jocelynn: 0

I've decided to set the needles down. Back away real slow and turn to another addiction:

I love video games. This one in particular has got my utmost attention. Tricky little thing that it is, I hate to be outsmarted by a machine. I will however, be victorious.
Check out the new controller. It would seem the old one became an unwitting chew toy for someone cute and fuzzy. No. Not hubby. Think smaller. Four-legged. Yep. Napoleon. I have no idea what the attraction is to wires. I am thinking up new ways to try and make it look less tasty as I write this. Hmmmmmmm. Think. Think. Think. Nada.

I've also had to wake up a lot earlier for work. It is slowing draining away all of my creative energy. I suspect that is why I now have this "wonderful" cold.
Our mass amount of snow is supposed to be hitting the bricks this week. We are due for some rain. I wonder how many basements will be flooded? This is another reason why I like my little apartment. I live on high ground.
Take care all.
Good night.

SOCKS!!!

I have been on a serious sock binge as of late. I'm not sure what is going on in my brain that I must serve up this addiction. On the ravelry site, my friend showed me this group. Its a sock group. There is a pattern issued every two months. This one is Jacobean. I have just found the pattern. This week end I will search out my needed supplies.

Here are my Bartholomew's Socks:

I even managed to learn how to make a new heal. (or is it heel?) I think heal is to aid or cure and it is "heel" I want.

Tomorrow will be the start of March break for a lot of the schools in my area. This means that I will hopefully catch up on all the paperwork dating back to January. I am a naughty little filer aren't I?
We are also due another onslaught of snow. I say forget the truck. I am investing in a snowmobile; nevermind the smell of diesel. :)
I have made excellent progress on The Predator. I made it to chapter four. I rock!
I am off to play more playstation. Have a great night all.

Socks Are on the Way

I am starting to feel more myself. The week-end held more emotion than I was prepared to deal with. I have a very difficult time expressing grief. I aviod it whenever possible. When I get into that state, I just like to stay by myself. I try to keep my hands busy. If my hands are moving, then my thoughts are more focused.

I started a new project:

Cute Little Heart Socks
These are for our baby niece.

I made some more progress on my long socks:

Slowly, but surely, they will be born.

I do believe, I may have created a heel:

Perhaps even an arch:

I am looking out my window as I type this.
I believe the kiddies will have yet another snow day tomorrow.

I hope so, I have a ton of paperwork to catch up on.

I hope you all are keeping well.
Good night.

Upset

That is not the right word for how I feel at the moment. I am emotional. A gentleman, a co-worker of my husband, experienced a tremendous loss the other day. It is something that I understand to be the absolute worse thing a parent can ever be told. He received a telephone call at work that his 17 year old son was in a hospital. He was devastated. That word is so inappropriate. His died in a vehicle that rolled over with five other teens. How on earth can you move on from that. He will never be the same man again.
I hate the word accident that they use to describe those scenes. An accident is something that is non preventable. Something that occurs which is beyond your control. This is not an accident. This is a tragic loss for everyone this boy has ever encountered. All those kids that attend his school, his family, the people that read about it in the paper or seen it on the news.
I am emotionally crushed tonight.

Does Not Follow Instruction :(

It was a short work week, but a long one all the same. There was a bit of tension at work. I think it was because of the lunar eclipse. It may mess with people's brain activity.

I went to my sock class on Thursday. I was so scared. Something new, new people, new environment....... But I went. Hubby thought he was going to have to escort me there, but I went willingly! I also re-knit my sock:

I just didn't like how it was knitting up the first three times. I think I understand how to make it look better.

I can't remember if I told you about this new show I'm watching. It is called The Treatment with Gabriel Byrnes. I absolutely love it! The concept is that there is a 30 minute show every night. Each night is dedicated to a character. I love this because there are no special effects. It is only the two (or in one case, a couple and therapist), talking. The set stays the same with the exception of Saturday night when Gabriel's character goes to his own therapist's house for his session. We miss all the shows at the 830 time slot. The joy in The Movie Network, is that you can "rent" each episode to watch on your own time. I choose Sundays to sit back, knit whatever and glue myself to the television. Have I mentioned I love television? hehehe.

Oh! I almost forgot. My dirty little secret. America's Next Top Model returned on Wednesday! I love this show. I have been anticipating this since the end of the last cycle.

I am off to get living room ready now. We have some of hubby's friends coming over to play video games. I plan to work on my sock. I have to finish up to the arch expansion before the next class.
I wish you all a good night.

Won't You Be My Neighbour

Remember when I mentioned earlier, that a very kind gentleman helped me release my truck from its slippery snow filled parking spot? Here is the toque I have made as a thank you:

It was a quick little number. I started it while watching the Jodie Foster movie Brave One, and finished it while watching Fay Grim. both are very cool flicks by the way. The Brave One brought out many emotions in me. I will not spoil it for you all out there. Let us just say, I was scared, pissed, happy, and relieved all within the span of two hours. Like I said, excellent flick.
Fay Grim was quick. It has Parker Posey, Jeff Goldblum, some other actors as well that you will recognize when you see, but just can't quite get their name out. It had very clever dialogue.

The toque did not look very well on my knee for photos......

.....so I asked hubby to try it on:

He rather liked it. I am now making one for him:

This is the book I just picked up for the sock class I have mentioned:

I am very psyched. That is putting it mildly.

Tomorrow will be turkey supper with the in-laws. It should prove to be quite tastey. All of that side of the family can cook. You never go away hungry.
It is well past 200am now. I want to work on hubby's toque for a while longer.
Good night everyone :)
