Jen

Happy Birthday Jennifer
I don't even know if you read this. It actually doesn't really matter.
The thing that does matter is you gather your thoughts and get in touch with your mother.
You don't even have to telephone. A simple postcard with only the words, I am OK is sufficient.
I have no idea what you are trying to prove and to whom.
I just wish you would realize that you do have family that does love you very much.
Even if you are not ok, you can still contact me and I can drop everything and find you.
I do sincerely wish you a Happy Birthday.

I Think I Might Finally Know the Name of this Plant.

To enter our backyard, you go through this gate like structure and pass under this orange climbing plant.

Almost sounds like a bit from Dungeons and Dragons no?
Anyway, I was reading this blog over here, Chickens & Fine China, where it mentions this plant called a Honeysuckle.
Is that what this orange thing is?
I love it!
Two years later, I finally have an answer to one of the many questions involving this garden.
Thank you!
Sincerely!
The Hummingbirds love this plant. One day I might even be able to capture one of those flying little acrobats on film.

Gardening

I had a mini adventure at the garden nursery this past week end. I was looking for plants and flowers that come up every year as well as a solution for mosquitoes. I am tired of becoming a walking buffet for those vampire insects.
I went with my mom-in-law to Les Serres Sabrevois.
They have absolutely everything you could ever imagine needing or wanting for your garden.
I found everything I has on my list and then some.

I lost the tag for this plant:

If anyone knows what it is, can you please tell me?

These are the ones I managed to keep with the tags:
An Asiatic Pot Lily

Santa Cruise Sunset Begonias

if only because it reminds of a Sublime song.

Berry White Osteosperum

Veronica Longifolia

Cherry Blossom Delphinium

Gaillardia Goblin

Anything with the name Goblin in it must belong in my backyard!

Echinacea Pow Wow Wildberry.

This is what my garden looks like after I ripped up all the Hostas and transplanted the Daffodils:

This is my solution for mosquitoes!
In one pot I just have Mint.

The larger one has an orange smell. The smaller one is the mint that you find in most grocery stores.

In this pot, I have Eucalyptus and a Geranium Citron plant.

Time will tell if this works.

I also bought this hanging plant as a floral wall between where we usually sit outside and the neighbours.
Once again, I have no idea the name of this flower.

This is what my garden now looks like:

When it is stops raining, I will post some updated pics.
Hope you are all having a great day!

Before the Frost

I made sure to take a few photographs before the frost killed everything last night.
Quite the colour display of tulips.

This is my favourite:

This is Hubs':

Our Lilacs have fared better this year.

I have no idea what these are,

Besides perusing the estate, I also started on my Vintage Vest,

Lastly, here is an update on Reno. The kitten Hubs rescued from the garage when he was doing renovations.

Too close Reno.
Try again.

That's better.
Well, that covers the usual stuff around here.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Have a good day everyone!

Beautiful Day

We had a gorgeous day yesterday.
I'm not sure of the exact temperature. I do know that I did not need a coat nor a long sleeve shirt.
To celebrate our move to come out of winter hibernation, we decided to run a few errands.
My main goal was just to pick up a few groceries and just enjoy driving with the windows rolled down.
As a surprise, I actually purchased a few plants for the backyard.
Right now, there is just too much greenery for my liking.
The bushes, the Hostas, Wow, the amount of Hostas. It is just way too overwhelming.
I wanted to add colour back there last spring, but we just did not have any idea what was growing back there.
Now we have a better understanding.
First, I found a neat looking Lavender plant/tree. I made one lady at Walmart really uncomfortable as I was scoping out her buggy.
I had never seen this type of flower before and I just thought it would look really cool in our garden.

I need to hang on to the tags or I will never remember what is what.

At this point hubs got into the spirit of the day and found this cool plant,

We even found a place for the rock I brought home from Gaspé!

It is in the background, by the fence, behind the new Lavender tree.
I think we are off to a good start. The plan is just to start over. If we see some sort of plant that catches our eye, we will add it to our little garden family. This plan may take a while, but if it is anything like the progress we made yesterday, it will be worth it.
I hope all is well with you. Enjoy the start to your week.

First Day(Night) Off in a Few Weeks.

So I caught up a few things.
I went outside and looked at my plants.

I made this recipe for rice pudding

I walked to the post office to pick up my parcel,

which will be used for this sweater, Vintage Vest.
