Beautiful Day

We had a gorgeous day yesterday.
I'm not sure of the exact temperature. I do know that I did not need a coat nor a long sleeve shirt.
To celebrate our move to come out of winter hibernation, we decided to run a few errands.
My main goal was just to pick up a few groceries and just enjoy driving with the windows rolled down.
As a surprise, I actually purchased a few plants for the backyard.
Right now, there is just too much greenery for my liking.
The bushes, the Hostas, Wow, the amount of Hostas. It is just way too overwhelming.
I wanted to add colour back there last spring, but we just did not have any idea what was growing back there.
Now we have a better understanding.
First, I found a neat looking Lavender plant/tree. I made one lady at Walmart really uncomfortable as I was scoping out her buggy.
I had never seen this type of flower before and I just thought it would look really cool in our garden.

I need to hang on to the tags or I will never remember what is what.

At this point hubs got into the spirit of the day and found this cool plant,

We even found a place for the rock I brought home from Gaspé!

It is in the background, by the fence, behind the new Lavender tree.
I think we are off to a good start. The plan is just to start over. If we see some sort of plant that catches our eye, we will add it to our little garden family. This plan may take a while, but if it is anything like the progress we made yesterday, it will be worth it.
I hope all is well with you. Enjoy the start to your week.

First Day(Night) Off in a Few Weeks.

So I caught up a few things.
I went outside and looked at my plants.

I made this recipe for rice pudding

I walked to the post office to pick up my parcel,

which will be used for this sweater, Vintage Vest.

Soup

I absolutely love when something turns out the way I would for it finish.
I made this Bacon and Potato Soup for lunch and it was amazing!
I fried the bacon,

Chopped the onion, celery, carrots and potatoes,

Add them all to the boiling chicken broth, then stirred in Tex Mex cheese.

This soup hit the spot.

With spring on way, I started to poke around outside and see if anything I planted during the fall was making an appearance.

I hope these are the tulips I planted.

Napoleon cannot figure out why anyone would want to venture outside when the food and couch are located inside the house.

I might be putting in some overtime at work shortly, so I went to pick up a few supplies last night. You know, food and whatnots.
In Walmart I came across this:

Every so often I find a nice treat in that store.

Washer is ready.
See you all later.

Happy Spring

Our Easter dinner went well.
I did not take the pictures I wanted. I was too busy trying to get food on the table so we could all eat at a decent hour.
Little Man was in charge of colouring the deviled eggs.
I think he did a fantastic job.

His next task was to photograph whatever he wanted.
Apparently, just the cats.

Rebel spent most of the evening snuggled with Hampton on the couch.

Reno tried to make a sneak attack on anyone who walked by his super secret hiding spot.

Tom spent the evening on higher ground avoiding the Reno's craziness.

Napoleon snuggled with the Grandparents.

After all the festivities, this is what I have been working on:

My Sockstrap sock.
Once I wrapped my brain around Clue no. 3, I really started to coast along.

In my television world, I've been trying to find things to watch Walking Dead returns.
So far I am quite happy with Bates Motel, Arrow, Revolution and catching up with Downton Abbey. Wednesday night we will give Hannibal a try.

I hope everything is going well for you. I'm going to pick up this sock again and watch a few more episodes while the rain continues to pour outside.
Keep dry everyone.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate.
I am what is called a lapsed Catholic, so I do not really celebrate.
That is probably why I have no problem working most holidays.

Everything has been pretty quiet over here. I have been watching a lot of Downton Abbey. I have actually been calling this show Downtown Abbey for some time. I just thought because the show took place in England, the characters were pronouncing their home with a cute accent.
While watching I have been knitting quite a bit.
I completed my cowl,

That photo was actually taken the first day of Spring.
We had over a foot of snow and it was the first snow day the children actually experienced this school year.
Winters in Canada are puzzling.
The yarn I used was from Bohemia Fibers and is named Knight on an Iron Horse. Or something like that. I accidentally spilled wine all over the name tag and it is unfortunately unreadable. It was a near death experience. I was sitting on my chair with my feet propped up on my desk and I moved a little to far..Next thing I know....I almost went ass over tea kettle. Sadly, the glass of wine was lost.
I also worked a little more on my knit-a-long project, Sock Strap.

That strawberry cupcake was my snack. That is a just a bonus picture for you all.
So while I was munching on cupcakes, knitting and watching Downton Abbey, Hubs was trying out the vacuum attachments.

Now even the ceilings are dust free for the moment. With four cats however, that is not a very lasting environment.

Since I am working tonight, we will do our big dinner on Tuesday.
I am going to try out this little recipe and see how it goes.

For those of you who celebrate, Happy Easter.
For the rest of my friends in cyber world, have a fantastic Sunday!

Socks and Sandwiches

I hope everyone is keeping well. All is well as far as I know on my end of things.
I've been glued to my pc watching three seasons of Downton Abbey. It reminds me very much of one of my favourite movies, The Remains of the Day.
Since I cannot just sit and watch anything, I've completed Clue one of Sock Strap.

And a close up:

Not bad eh?

Since I am on night shift, I have the pleasure of creating lunch most days.
This was yesterday's

A salad of mixed greens, nuts, croutons, dried cranberries, apples and cheese. The sandwich is something rather special.
I found President's Choice of Montreal Smoked Meat.
The Quebecor's in the house thought is was amazing.
It must have been, there were no leftovers.

I was rather sad to read that Stompin Tom Connors died Wednesday. He was one of my favourite Canadians simply because he believed in the good of this country. His belief that we should promote our country rang true in his music. Connors covered everything from Prince Edward Island Potatoes to Ketchup to Roll on Saskatchewan.

Dove

While watching Soul Eater, I completed Cat Bordhi's Dove socks.

My next project is a mystery knit along.
I am using Madelinetosh Tosh Sock yarn, Georgia O'Keefe

I love this colour!

However, I am very distracted with all of my projects and television programs.
I should be doing this instead:

Yes.
That would be an employee evaluation.
In French.
I am good with this.
I think about how far I have come within my work and my new life here in Quebec, and I have come a helluva long way. I have learned a new language and new customs. I have overcome quite a few obstacles. There a few more I need to tackle, but overall, Live Is Good!

I am going to catch a few hours sleep before I go to work tonight.
I hope you are all having a great week end.
