Overwhelmed

We have just returned from Fan Expo. I'm still a bit dazed and confused. There was so much to see that I think I went into sensory overload. I think the best way to share what happened is through the many, many, many pictures I had taken today.
So, here goes:
We took the GO train from Oakville into Toronto.

We were not the only ones heading to the city for the Expo. I actually felt under-dressed:

Here we are looking as the train enters the station:

I prefer this method of travel when I know I will be walking for the better part of the day. It's nice when someone else does the driving for a change. I especially like when I get a chance to look more closely at the scenery:

It was held at the Metro Convention Center.

All sorts of characters accompanied us there:

The line to purchase tickets was not that bad. I heard it was awful on Friday and Saturday.

I think we waited about 10 to 15 minutes opposed to the three hour wait the previous days.

Once inside, my senses went into overtime. There were so many booths and exhibitioners to visit. I had fun at this one:

I have no idea what game I was playing. It involved a knight and a sword.

There were so many characters of all shapes and ages:

There were lots of booths filled with comic books, displays and artists:

.......And the answer to who watches the Watchmen?

........Brian!

Still more characters and displays:

Believe it or not, there was even a Muay Thai demonstration:

Here are the goodies I came home with:

These are my favourite:

This one especially:

Look closely....

.....It's addressed to me:)

It was an awesome day in Toronto!!

I'm sure there is a ton I'm leaving out. I'm a bit tired and still overwhelmed. I think I will call it a night. I hope you all enjoyed your week ends. Good night.

I Have Video?

Today was spent rather quietly. We slept in. Walked to the mall for lunch. Watched the remaining episodes of Nurse Jackie. (OMG!! If anyone else watches this program and wants to chat about the finale, by all means, let me know!) We also cleaned up the apartment. We were feeling quite proud and ambitious. Perhaps too much. We thought we would comb Rebel to add him the week end cleaning and test out the feature I just discovered my camera.
It sort of went OK...........

We should have named him Cybil. He throws off some severe mixed signals.

I'm off to bed early tonight. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow. I'll be sure to post lots of pics of the Fan Expo we will be attending tomorrow. Have a good night everyone.

Linkies

Since work is........well..........taking too long and sucking the life out of me, I would like to avoid that and share my plans for the week end.
On Sunday we will be going to Fan Expo I have never seen this before. I'm quite excited. There should be ample opportunity to people watch.
I was watching television last night. I know big surprise. There was this commercial:

The only thing I am concerned about is the grossness when you lift up that sticky stuff. it actually took a lot of will power not call up those friendly people on the shopping channel and place an order. What stopped me was that I get nauseous trying to clean out the vacuum.
The cats are all sleepy and it is having its affect on me. I'm to watch more television.
Good night everyone.

Harsh Winds

On Friday it took me about an hour longer to get home than normal from work. We actually experienced a tornado. Where I live wasn't hit. There were just incredibly high winds and lightning. Very impressive nonetheless. Other sections of my town were not so lucky. While I was fighting traffic and intense weather conditions to arrive home, other people were able to take pictures of the event.

I haven't posted too many photos lately, but I have been knitting.
These are my Samarkand socks from the Pentathlon event on Ravelry:

To be honest, I'm not sure I'm going to make this deadline. Work has been difficult. I'm in the process of mapping all of the school runs for our area. Unfortunately, we did not receive the runs from the board until Thursday. As a consequence, I have been remaining late at work to try and have them ready for the start up meeting the drivers will attend on Tuesday. I am in charge of the afternoon runs while the other dispatcher is in charge of the mornings. I wish they would let me drink at work. :( It might make the experience a little less painful.

Aw well. I'm off to mellow out so I can try and sleep tonight. Lately, I've been much to wired to sleep for more than 3 hours at a time.
I hope you all had a wonderful week end.

Cat In The Bag

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer weather. Where I live, we have finally had more than four days in a row without rain. The cats however, are not as thrilled.

Rebel has resigned himself to the heat.

He has now experienced the summer season for 9 years. He just finds a nice dark place to hole up in and waits for night time to plan his escape to the balcony.

Napoleon on the other hand, is quite upset.

That is one angry kitty.

He roams around the apartment screaming until he finally tuckers himself out and he rests inside whatever bag is lying on the floor.

We made it to Wonderland on Sunday. We had a great time. Unfortunately, we did not hit all the rides we had planned. We did however get soaked on a few of them. My sneakers will never be the same. Wonderland is a great place to people watch. Everyone in various outfits, or lack of. Surprisingly, there really wasn't that many in attendance. I wonder if the heat played a part.

I went to the gym tonight. I have been slacking for a month now. At the end of our normal routine, Husband showed me how to do a bit of boxing. I think I was picturing work for most of the shots. It was a great stress relief. I hope I can move my arms tomorrow.

I'm addicted to Farmville on Facebook. That sort of taken me by surprise. I was avoiding that game since it had been developed. Sorry to say, but it looked rather silly. Now I am right into it. I was a bit concerned with a few of the details. There is a point in the game when you can harvest the fruits of your labour. I was okay with harvesting the veggies and fruit. I was worried about harvesting some of the animals, especially since it looks like you harvest them with a scythe. I'm happy to report that if you can't milk the creature, you harvest the wool!! How cool is that?

Anyways, I'm off to harvest more things. Have a great Wednesday.

I leave you with a little summer music:

Need More Holidays

You ever notice how you need a holiday to rest after your official holidays? Maybe that is just my holidays.

We attempted to go to Canada's Wonderland. We were only able to hit a few of the many rides as we were unfortunately rained out. That seems to be the theme of our summer in these parts. Have no fear. We are attempting to go again mid-August and my need for very fast drops and loops will be abated!

We returned from Gravenhurst on Monday. We had an awesome time. The weather was beautiful.

We enjoyed lots of good eats

........and lots of good drinks

Which had led to some interesting fun.....

Like many of our towns in Ontario, Gravenhurst is amazing. There is lots to see and do, especially if you are an outdoorsy type.

Turns out I'm a bit of pyro. I can set a fire in just about any condition. (Weather wise I mean, not my person condition. hehehe)

The fire kept strong until we put it out. It's good to know that if I am ever in the bush for an extended period of time, I'll be warm through the night.

Holiday traffic was horrible. Since the main highway home was completely stopped, we opted to take the back roads. This actually proved a bit difficult as there are only two seasons in Ontario, Winter and Construction. Many of the more familiar paths were closed. Sounded like the perfect excuse for some adventure.

They are not kidding. The width of our truck just fit down that little path.

It was great fun though.

I believe we are up to date now. If anything else happens, I'll be sure to tell you.
Have a good night everyone.

The Happiest Place On Earth...........

is actually not always the liquor store. Tomorrow we are going to Canada's Wonderland!!!!!

This is what I'm most looking forward to:

We were able to purchase tickets at Mac's convenience store. I'm glad. It's a bit of a break from the regular price of admission. Our awesome friend pointed us in that direction. Thank you!!!!

While we were out and about running a few errands, we picked up a few goodies.
Wilbur Smith has a new book out:

Smith's stories are incredible. He puts a lot of detail and makes his characters come to life. The stories usually span centuries. They flow seamlessly. I have yet to be disappointed with any of his novels.

This one caught my attention:

I enjoy a lot of Austen's books. Throw in some zombies, and I'm sold.

We also found a video game.

I love getting the two player games. There really are not that many out there surprisingly. Or at least ones that I enjoy. I don't really get into the shooter games too often. I do not enjoy the sports ones, unless its on the Wii. Those are fun!

We picked up a few Cd's:

Bif and Cage the Elephant.

I always pick up Bif's Cd's. I have been a huge fan of hers since I don't know when. I would love to see her in concert again. She just seems like a good person. Full of life. I just enjoy listening to her, be it through interviews or in her music.
Cage the Elephant was actually Hubby's choice. He heard their music at work on the radio. Sometimes, that is how new music is introduced to me. Our work places play radio stations that we would not normally chose for ourselves, and once in a while a song will come up that sparks our interests.

Catchy eh?

When I am able, I will let you know how Wonderland went. Right now, I'm off to see what has Rebel so concerned:

Have a good night everyone.
