Still Kinda Red

It was a busy day for me today. I tried to lighten my hair colour again. I want it to be blonde by the end of May. All of my spring/summer wardrobe is based on me having blonde hair.
It was darker than this:

I am pleased with the result so far. I think a few more shades down and I will be at my target blondness.
It is really difficult to photograph yourself. This was the only pic I managed to take where I do not resemble a serial killer.

I also dressed and went outside for a short time. The mall always pulls me out of my funk. My title among our friends is The Aging Mallrat. I love The Mall. It is a city within a city. You can find everything you ever need or desire all under one roof. How awesome is that?

I completed my Cedar Dancing Socks:

I want a fresh slate for when I return to the sock club this Thursday. I am very glad I am on the mend for this event. I would hate to be hacking and sniffling in the corner trying my best to look healthy. No one likes a diseased person in their midst.

I had to put away those tricky lace socks from the Pentathlon Sock group on Ravelry. The way I see it: If I complete these socks before time up in two months, I will be one happy little camper.

Tomorrow I will going to work. I don't quite feel strong nor my quirky self as of yet. I am sure by mid week, I will be more myself.

I think I will surprise Mom this Sunday. It is afterall, Mother's Day. I'm in search of a climbing rose bush for her to add to her garden. She has yet to include one of those. She was not able to have any roses in her yard on Prince Edward Island. The climate was not suitable for them. Too cold I believe. She is making up for that lack in full swing now. I'm glad. It means she is finally getting used to her home and starting to add her own touches to the place.
That's about all I have to say or share for now. I hope you all have a great start to the week tomorrow. I hope the same for me too. Take care all.

Not Doing a Heck of A Lot

I'm a still a bit under the weather. I am feeling much stronger though. Tomorrow my big plan is to get dressed and go OUTSIDE!
How adventurous.
For the time being, I am very content to surf the endless amusements that I can find on the net with my co-conspirator.

Rebel has been a great doctor. A good nap buddy. Note all the cold paraphernalia by the pc:

Hope you all have a great day!

Is It Supposed to Look Like That?!?!

Hmmmmmmmmm
That is my word of the day I believe. Doesn't require much effort and I like the way it sounds.
Those internet folk are tricky with their sock cults.
They sucker you in with an easy peasy little sock pattern as the first task. Something you can do while watching television. It lulls you into a fake sense of security. Next thing you know, you anxiously await the next challenge. You can do this you think to yourself. You are a lean mean knitting machine. Bring on the next challenge! you roar. So they do. You finally find the pattern after long waits by the pc, wondering if they meant your time zone or something else not of this world. The pattern finally reveals itself. Hmmmmmmmmmm
There are a lot of symbols on this one.
OK. Don't panic. I'm sure it is not as tricky as it looks.
Just go with it. Think of it like good anime. The plot never really becomes understood until the final frame.

I spent my afternoon winding my lovely Lorna's Laces Hand Dyed Yarn of Safari colour while watching Canterbury Law on Surf the Channel. God Bless the internet waiting for said pattern:
Yep. Them there are my snazzy pj's. (and a bit of my foot). What the cool kids wear when they are home sick.

So after four hours of serious study, this is what has emerged:

Just stick with it. I'm sure it is do-able. It is knitting for goodness sakes. Not like it's rocket science. Thank goodness for you, seeing as you had to repeat the scary math lessons for a victory lap in high school.

Which I think is most excellent seeing as how my head is ironically captured by the weather outside:

Thank you to Alanis. I now no longer understood the proper meaning of the word ironic. Isn't it ironic.................I have no idea. I'm chasing Nyquill with rye and hoping for some sleep tonight. I remember this study I read in school a very long time ago in a planet not so much like our own, where they said that the neurons need to charge or you will die. The experiment was scary involving a cat, an overturn bucket and some water. Even with the tiniest bit of sleep, it is enough for the neurons to continue. With no sleep whatsoever, things become disasterous. Please PETA don't hunt me down. I simply read about the experiment. I did not preform it.

This is what else I managed to accomplish today:

They were the two socks on two circs that I was so proud of. I have a better plan now. Soon to be revealed.................Later. When I'm not hypped up on cold meds and rye.
Have a good night everyone. I'm off to enjoy the colours.

FINALLY!!!!!

Finally! My Jacobeans are complete!

I spent the entire week end on them. This was probably a good move for the bank account as I was trapped in front of my television as opposed to being in a mall.
They look more like knee socks. I'm OK with that image. A sock is a sock. I was a bit sidetracked. I was watching a lot of cool movies and I forgot to look down to look at my project. Last night was the kicker. I was watching Constantine with my creative assisstant:

He did not fare as well.

What does that say about my sleep habits?
I can outlast a nocturnal creature.

Napoleon is actually still resting. I guess he can't keep up with the late hours.

I am actually going to try and rest tonight. I believe I have caught hubby's cold. How does that saying go? A family that shares........

I keep saying we don't have to share everything.
Have a good night all.

And Then There Was One

I have one of my Jacobean socks complete.

This was my attempt of a creative shot. I know. I will keep working on it.

It's a bit longer than intended. I was watching this cool movie and I sort of got carried away. Now my Jacobean sock is a knee high. It is still a sock, so I am pleased.

Since hubby is still not feeling all that great, it will be another quiet week end. This is dependent of my pager does not go off every hour. I am on call for work this week. I hate it. I can never rest. Every time something beeps or dings, I jump. I even jump if my beloved coffee maker dings when my elixir is created. How on earth can I be so jumpy when my favourite machine in my kitchen is communicating with me? The cats must sense something. They keep trying to "kill" it. I secretly hope for their success.
I have the Fraggle Rock theme song in my head. It has been there taking up valuable space for three days. Why on earth does that happen? And of all the songs in the world, why that one? I wonder if it is a secret message and my brain is trying to tell me something.
I'm off to play video games. I have to distract my brain from that lovely little tune before I try to go to sleep. Have a good day everyone.

Hard Day's Rest

This was where I left Rebel when I left for work this morning:

This is where I found Rebel when I returned from work this evening:

Do you see a difference?
Neither did Napoleon.

I think he was concerned:

Rebel just has his days where he would prefer to hold up in a nice tight space for a while. He does some serious thinking on these days. I'm just happy he was in the middle of the living room and not held up in some dark corner where he usually likes to ponder the mysteries of life. Just seems more healthy when he elects to keep to the sunlight for a bit.

While Rebel was contemplating the universe tonight, I was watching America's Next Top Model and doing some serious knitting on my Jacobean sock.
Check this puppy out:

Bet you didn't think I had any other pjs by looks of previous posts eh? Check out this green little number. And oh yes, there is a top to match. hehe
I am really pleased with the development. I learned a few new things with this sock. I can now start socks at the toe. I do not have to go from my "go to" version at the cuff. I also learned how to do a new heel:

I'm totally psyched. I love when a plan comes together.

Hubby is not feeling himself today. He has some nasty flu like thing going on. I'm trying to be quiet so he can get some much needed rest. I think the cats are feeling for him because they too are being extra quiet tonight. You know what this means? They will raise a little hell when he starts to feel better. Who knows what we will be in for later.

Have a good night everyone and stay healthy.

Awesome Day!

We did a bit of shopping today. With the gorgeous weather about, I had to buy new sandals. I found these super cool heels:

Guess what I am wearing on Monday?
I love the chrome heels!

We also bought a new mat for the entrance way. One that is a tad more heavy duty. I had this bamboo number for a few years. It started to look like one of the cats' chew toys. Which is probably what they were doing when we were not at home.

Rebel seems to approve:

Apparently, it may taste a little funny. Perhaps this one will last longer?

Napoleon is not as sure.

However, with Rebel making himself quite at home, they seem to have found some quality sleep time.

Here is an update on my Jacobean socks for the group on Ravelry:

I'm wondering how the heel will look. So far this is going quite well.

We rented a few movies for the week end. Last night we watched Juno. It was most excellent. It did leave me wondering though: Is this how the cool kids really talk now?
The girl who plays Juno, Ellen Page, is an amazing actor. I love most of the films she has been in.
I'm off to play more PS2. I'm at this tricky part that has taken me the better part of this week. I am not going to sleep until I get past it.
Have a good night everyone.
