Hard Day's Rest

This was where I left Rebel when I left for work this morning:

This is where I found Rebel when I returned from work this evening:

Do you see a difference?
Neither did Napoleon.

I think he was concerned:

Rebel just has his days where he would prefer to hold up in a nice tight space for a while. He does some serious thinking on these days. I'm just happy he was in the middle of the living room and not held up in some dark corner where he usually likes to ponder the mysteries of life. Just seems more healthy when he elects to keep to the sunlight for a bit.

While Rebel was contemplating the universe tonight, I was watching America's Next Top Model and doing some serious knitting on my Jacobean sock.
Check this puppy out:

Bet you didn't think I had any other pjs by looks of previous posts eh? Check out this green little number. And oh yes, there is a top to match. hehe
I am really pleased with the development. I learned a few new things with this sock. I can now start socks at the toe. I do not have to go from my "go to" version at the cuff. I also learned how to do a new heel:

I'm totally psyched. I love when a plan comes together.

Hubby is not feeling himself today. He has some nasty flu like thing going on. I'm trying to be quiet so he can get some much needed rest. I think the cats are feeling for him because they too are being extra quiet tonight. You know what this means? They will raise a little hell when he starts to feel better. Who knows what we will be in for later.

Have a good night everyone and stay healthy.

Awesome Day!

We did a bit of shopping today. With the gorgeous weather about, I had to buy new sandals. I found these super cool heels:

Guess what I am wearing on Monday?
I love the chrome heels!

We also bought a new mat for the entrance way. One that is a tad more heavy duty. I had this bamboo number for a few years. It started to look like one of the cats' chew toys. Which is probably what they were doing when we were not at home.

Rebel seems to approve:

Apparently, it may taste a little funny. Perhaps this one will last longer?

Napoleon is not as sure.

However, with Rebel making himself quite at home, they seem to have found some quality sleep time.

Here is an update on my Jacobean socks for the group on Ravelry:

I'm wondering how the heel will look. So far this is going quite well.

We rented a few movies for the week end. Last night we watched Juno. It was most excellent. It did leave me wondering though: Is this how the cool kids really talk now?
The girl who plays Juno, Ellen Page, is an amazing actor. I love most of the films she has been in.
I'm off to play more PS2. I'm at this tricky part that has taken me the better part of this week. I am not going to sleep until I get past it.
Have a good night everyone.

It's a Toe

I'm trying something new tonight. I am trying to figure out how you start a sock from the toe and work your way to the cuff.
I think I got it:

Could just very well be:

Yep, still looks like a toe:

YES!!
A toe emerges!

This is what hubby was working on while I was turning the air blue with my choice words:

It looks to be the start of a good week end. I am not on call for work. We are getting some decent weather. I am promised that I will be taken shoe shopping. We have some good movies to watch. Perhaps some laundry will done?
Wild week end ahead.

New Yarn and Then Some

I went to the yarn store located very close to my work with the intention of purchasing some more Addi's. I love those. Such a smooth operation. Anyway, I ended up adopting this lovely little gem:

Yep. More sock wool.

How cool will the colours be for these future socks? It goes from light yellow to black and then some. I'm excited to see how it transpires.
By the way......Those are my cool pjs. Nice little black and red stripe number eh?

I am feeling more confident in my knitting ability. I am just diving in there regardless of the skills and techniques required. With my new found power, I am sampling all sorts of wool I would otherwise not have dreamed of trying. Go me!!!

I also thought I should share with you my comfy night time socks. My mom made these for me:

The women in my family are cursed with feet as cold as ice. Every singal one of us. This explains why I am on such a sock kick of late. I love these socks. They are very roomy and stretch up to my knees. When I wear them I smile. They remind me of mom who is not exactly within arms reach. My parents are about a three hour drive away. I only seem to be able to get up there on long week ends or when I desperately need to get away from the craziness where I live. When we visit, I like to at least spend the night. I always sleep well. It is pitch black at night and the stars are so clear. Not at all like where I live now. There are too many street lights to cloud the view of the sky. At least she is in the same province now. For a little while they were living in Prince Edward Island. Beautiful country down there, just a very long commute to visit mom.
My goodness! My Canadian heritage is just falling out of me. I was listening to a comedian the other morning while trying to ready myself for work. He said that no where else has he heard people give directions or distance by using minutes. It would seem us Canadians like to gauge our distance by how long it takes us to get there as opposed to actually how many clicks away. I never really noticed that before. I dig it. :)
Here is another little pic from weekend fun:

I'm not sure what I did to get that. I woke up and voila! A mighty bruise. I must have bumped into the desk again. I never even felt it. Oh dear.
Right now I'm trying to learn how to cast on socks starting with the toe. It is a work in progress. I am hoping by tomorrow night or early morning I will have it licked.
I wish you all a good night. Talk soon.

Some Knitting, Some Food, Some Booze

This is why I gained about 40lbs after we were married:

I think it is pretty cool that these:

can become these:

My man does to food what I do with yarn and paint. Not at the same time. That would be messy.

This awesome cooking used to be a little problem for us when we were first married. I had this idea in my head that the little woman stays home, cooks the meals, cleans the house etc.......
So I felt quite upset and truly resented being in the kitchen. I hate cooking. It`s a strong word I realize, but it describes my feelings. After a short seven years, we have a system. He cooks,
I drink and talk up a storm.

Besides, he truly enjoys this activity. Who am I to take it away from him. I`ll stick to the knitting.
Speaking of knitting.....
(cool little intro eh)

This is the heel for Dancing Cedar Socks:

I also found out that the colour I selected for these socks is coral. I thought it was a light pink. I`m a tad colour blind.
I`m off to go rescue a world from destruction.
Have a good night everyone.

Suspicious Activity ?!?

I knew we had a problem when I came home and found some mysterious felting. I don't felt. I'm pretty sure my husband doesn't felt either....not intentionally. There have been a few minor laundry incidents, but I have banned him from the dryer.
This is what the photo evidence has turned over:

Those feet belong to hubby. He is an accomplice. If you are not a part of the solution........

Close up....

Hmmmmm. Don't let the cuteness fool you. He is sneaky.

On a not so criminal side note, I have completed Bartholomew's Tantalizing Socks.
Yep, they rock!

I know it is sideways. Alcohol and cameras do not mix very well. I will try harder next time. I promise.
I have started another pair from the same book, New Pathway's For Sock Knitters by Cat Bordhi.

Cedar Dancing Socks.

This is what I accomplished while watching America's Next Top Model.
Can you believe they bounced Claire?
Weird eh?
I'm off to go protect my knitting from the taste tester.
Have a good night everyone.

Some Yarn; Some Help; Some IPOD

I visited a new yarn store on my lunch hour this week at work. I was looking for some Addi Turbos that I have heard so much positive hype. While there, I found the sought after Addi's and some yarn:

I was very attracted to the colour. I am planning to use it for those socks for the Ravelry sock group, Jacobeans. You can never have enough socks, especially red ones. I am hoping to start them sometime this week.

Speaking of sock groups:
This is the yarn to be used on the third sock:

I love the wild colours. I can't wait to see how these stripe up.

I also began the second sock:

Those Addi's do sing. I can't believe how quickly I can clip along.

You know what else I learned? When you take them out of the packaging, they do not have that permanently rolled up look. They just unfold and are all ready to go. Those are my kind of circs!
I learned a new way to cast on. I am very stoked. :)))))

My creative assistant is ensuring that my that the second mate of my first sock does not fall by the wayside.

He is strict!

Hey! Check these out:

Cute little accessories for my ipod:

Who knew it would be so difficult to take a pic of such a tiny little object? You will have to trust me. They rock!
Is there anything that a skull cannot jazz up?
I don't think so.

Hubby and I finally completed Justice League Heroes for PS2:

I love RPG games, especially ones like this. It has a great plot. Reminds me so much of the cartoon I used to watch Saturday morning. I'm sure it is still on air. I just have a very difficult time waking up to watch them.

My creative assistant also has a little problem. He has an addiction to chewing wires. You would think this would teach me to put away my toys. I'm a slow learner.

He can do a lot of damage in a very short amount of time. Once we were without a phone for over a week. I never even realized. I just thought it was nice that no one was calling. It was almost peaceful. Then I checked the phone line. Yep. Chewy had struck again.

That is about it for now. I hope you are all well.
Have a great week end! :)
