Catch-Up

The mini humans are back in school. They started the last week of August. I now fully appreciate that commercial from Staples:

We all went to the Brome Fair.







Enjoyed the rides, exhibits, animals, food.

I finished my shawl earlier this week, Mariposa.

I just have to re-block it once again and place it in a nice bag with a bottle of wine for the amazing woman who managed to make sense of that garden surrounding our home.

I have also decided to take a little break from knitting for a while and return to cross stitch.

Reno had grown rapidly the past month. He can now eat kibble and enjoys drinking and playing in the water bowls. Napoleon is being a great big brother/influence over the little fellow. They are quite the tag team.

Visit to the Yarn Shop

While my parents were visiting were visiting a little while back, my Mom made friends with a lady down the street. Apparently they made some sort of secret Mom deal to look after me. This deal included the nice lady to play in my garden. I did tell her that she is more than welcome to take any of the plants she sees. After all, it looks like a green mess to me. I cannot really tell the difference between weed and plant at the moment. She took me up on my offer very seriously. When I arrive home from work, I find the lovely lady in my garden mess of foliage, happily pruning back, removing weeds and earmarking some flowers and plants. In a matter of three days, this wizard has transformed a chaotic mess into an actual garden.
As a means of thank you, I am working on Mariposa.

Last Pictures From Holidays

This was the view from inside the Gaspé Museum. The concept for the architecture was to make the outside blend with the surrounding outdoors.

I can remember when I was younger this sort of place would have bored me to tears. I guess I am maturing? Hubs and I both enjoyed exploring and looking at all the exhibits. Funnily enough for me, this was my highlight:



I think this can be knit into a wonderful top!

These are the Pico Falls, from one of our many nature walks:

Apparently over 40% og Quebec's Nature trails are located in this region. I did not know that.

I would do this trip again in a heart beat!

I have taken the heel apart on these Carousel Socks four times now.



I love the concept.
I love my yarn choice.
I just need to focus and complete this heel.

Outdoorsy Stuff

The Gaspesie region is noted for all the outdoorsy stuff. It is made of forests, rivers and rock. Because of the special environment it is home to animals that would usually only be found above the treeline.
As far as seeing animals, we only caught the tail end of a porcupine,

literally,

..an angry squirrel.


..and lots of birds






We saw a sign that said there was a beaver dam. We thought that might be pretty cool. Unfortunately those beavers were rather elusive. we could only find evidence for their existence.

There were all sorts of interesting sights to behold on our many walks. I think it would be easier to show pictures instead of rambling on and on...
