Thank You

I just want to say thank you. You are my best friend. I tell you absolutely everything. Perhaps too much sometimes :)
You make me feel strong. You make me feel like I can do anything. You know all my secrets. I know all of yours. There have been stressful difficult times, but they are hugely outweighed by all the cool experiences. I would never ever trade any of that away. You're stuck with me. :D

Napoleon Loves Broccoli

I was not really aware of that fact either. I just thought I would share the weirdness that is my family. I tried to preserve the moment, but Napoleon is rather quick on the uptake.

Sadly all that is left are crumbs. Does broccoli leave crumbs?

Rebel was on hand to explore what super cool things arrived in the mail on Friday. I finally penciled in some time to open the delights.
Lo and behold,

More scarves!!!!

This delivery means that my scarf is starting the voyage home. I can't wait. Well, yes, I can. I have to. I can't very well hijack the post office vehicle. I will have to patient.

I have been working on a little sweater for a special little someone to be. This is called Baby Om created by Fawn Pea.
This is the front:

Here is a closer shot of the little symbol of a lotus in the center.

This is turning out quite well if I say so myself. And I do, so it is ;)

We watched some very good movies this week end. By good, I mean the stress of the week just melted away. First we watched Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Don't let the title freak you out. It was funny. It was written and directed by Kevin Smith. For those of you familiar with his works, this is pretty much along those awkward lines. A request from all of you, if anyone knows of existing patterns of the knit wear that the two main characters sported throughout the film, I would greatly appreciate a heads up to the right direction.
The other film we watched was The Gene Generation. A Sci-fi flick with a very hard core ass kicking female lead. I loved the boots the heroin wore throughout the film.

Also, (yes it was a busy week end at Chez L), we stumbled upon this little gem:

Was anyone else aware of a possible third season for Dead Like Me? I loved this show when it was on the air. I would schedule my life around this television show so I wouldn't miss any episodes. I won't spoil it for any other fans out there. I will say that I did enjoy this portion. It does however leave me feeling a little sad that no more will be following.

And what is a week end without a little wine:

Most of the wine I select is based on the label. If it has an interesting image or cute character, I'm hooked. Sometimes my methods prove true. This is one such case. It went well with our chicken and veg tonight.

I didn't make it to the gym this week end, but I did manage to do 35 minutes on our elliptical here in the comfort of my home. It goes way better when I have something fast and upbeat moving through my headphones. Coincidentally, broccoli is apparently not enough to stave off Napoleon.

He will also devour wiring. Ergo the new addition for my ipod:

Napoleon is now issuing nap time.

So while we settled for bed, I leave you with a tune that I cannot get out of my head. I don't actually mind this tune. It is catchier than the Mario Brothers Theme Song that I thought was taking up permanent residence all week. O_O.

Phenomenon by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Yeah!! I Have Arms

I'm just thrilled I can move my arms again to let you all know what I've been up for the past few days.

We went to the gym again the other day. We had a great time. No, really. We did. I swear. We were on the stationary bikes for about ten minutes. I like these. The have them strategically placed in front of the television broadcasting a marathon of The Bachelor. Is it just me or is this guy missing something? I can't recall the name of the man in question. I'm almost positive they were airing last seasons. The part that was upsetting me was when the attractive dark haired lady did not want to just jump in the hot tub in a very tiny swimsuit. The Bachelor, was telling the camera crew how ridiculous he found her shyness. I have news for you insert your very own nasty word here, if she is not giving up the goods to you as easily, chances are she is not giving them up to anyone. Be happy the girl has a set of standards. After ten minutes of cursing The Bachelor, we went into the aerobics room and used those giant balls. Balance is not my friend. I think I can come to terms with this. After a half hour of feeling very uncoordinated, we went back to my new favourite machine, the stationary bike. This time, I just cranked up my ipod. No more annoying little voices to distract me from the task at hand.
I'm just thrilled I can move my arms again to let you all know what I've been up for the past few days.

I have also recovered my long last tape measure:

If only my darning needle would make us aware of his whereabouts.

To celebrate my discovery, I've been knitting:

Can you guess what this is? I bet you can. As soon as I complete it, I will post some pics.

On Saturday, yes The Day for couples. We went to a dance that my work puts on every year.
I actually danced, (assuredly not like a frog in a blender)
In these:

To this:

So I leave with you that catchy little diddly and wish you a great night. Try to get that tune out of your head. I have given up and resigned myself to bang, bang, bang on the door...........

I Wore That Outside

It was a very big evening for me. My personal trainers made sure I had all the necessary equipment.

I put on my little outfit and the husband and I went to the gym!

This is actually an after shot. I was too nervous to stand still long enough for a before. I'm not sure if you can tell or not, but my hair is all one colour. Martha would be proud. She highly recommended, waving around very large scissors, that I no longer use any form of bleach. I didn't. I just used the product that is supposed to work with your natural hair colour. It would probably help if I could remember what that was.

I actually wore a track suit in public!!! I made the allowance to actually wear this ensemble because that is the purpose of those items. You are going to sweat, so you might as well wear the sweat suit.

I think I did quite well. I went on the elliptical machine for 30 minutes and survived. It has these settings for pre-programmed options. I selected the interval one. For certain increments of time, you are moving along smoothly and then the machine spices it up by increasing the resistance. It caught me off guard the first 6 times, but by the time I arrived at the 8th interval, I had it done path.

By the time we left my legs and arms were jelly and I had a problem hearing properly. I remember that happening when I was in high school. I would just push myself to the point where it felt like my heart was beating in my ears. There has been a lot of changes to my endurance level since those times. For example, I no longer have any endurance. I am however, going to change that.

My sneakers and I are very happy to have such a successful outing. I'm ready to go again.

Have a good night everyone. Rest assured the week end will soon be upon us.

I'm Ready

Part of my New Year's resolution was to take better care of myself. Husband is going to help me complete this goal. We went shopping today to find some gear for this event. I know. Shopping, Me, quelle surprise!

We start with an empty gym bag:

Put in some runners:

Some clothing:

And the result is a full gym bag all ready for Tuesday:

I realize it is only Saturday, but I am very excited and nervous about trying something new. I've never stepped foot in a gym before. It is very intimidating. I spent all week quizzing Husband about what other women wear to this joint. I hope I made the right choice.

We also acquired some new PS3 games:

I know I have said this before but, I love any game with a kick ass female heroine.

I found a bonus accompanying Assassin's Creed:

It even comes with a cute little action figure:

As far as knitting goes.......

This is my third attempt with these socks. I really need to pay more attention to my numbers. I will persevere and be victorious before the end of the month. Mark my words, I will proudly display a very cool pair of socks.

I also went and got my hair cut. Nothing to drastic. Just a trim. You will have to trust me when I say it looks so much better. Tomorrow I have my dye all ready to go and it will be one colour. Pictures to follow at a later date.

We rented a few movies for the week end. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Babylon A.D.. I will let you know later what we thought of them. They look very promising though. I believe Babylon A.D. might be based on an anime. I'm not 100% sure. I was very surprised to learn that Nick and Norah's is actually based on a novel by by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. We learn something new every day eh?

Enjoy your week end. I'm off to tackle my socks and watch some flicks.

Behold....

Ha! If you can't beat it (and this almost became a literal interpretation), hide all evidence you tried. I am now the proud owner of a new printer.

I am thrilled.
It prints.
Probably does other things, but I'm just really happy it prints.
Sadly, my other printer did not.

News on Husband. He is doing so much better. Almost normal. Or, as normal as we get.
We are all exhausted with worry. Rebel just crashed into the softest place in our home.

I hope he doesn't get too much yellow on all of that.

I've done a bit of knitting. Remember my Sea Wool Bordello Socks?
Here is one almost complete.

I really need to find my darning needle. It has to be around here somewhere. I suspect fuzzy and quick may have something to do with it's disappearance.

I also completed another portion from my Traveling Scarf Group. This is apparently called Lucina Shell Pattern. Thank you Vogue!

One of the reasons why I really enjoy this group is that I can test out those complicated looking stitches and not commit to them with a full garment. Sort of like "for future reference" type of of deal.

Unfortunately, I think I may be getting a cold. I am going to call it an early night (or try to), finish my rye, and off to bed. Back to a normal work day tomorrow. Night all.

No More Tube

It was a very successful visit to the doctor's office this afternoon. Husband no longer requires a draining tube. I have also noticed that he is not making as much noise when he gets up from a sitting position.
I have to warn you all though, the next pic looks kinda gross. There is now an additional hole in the man's body.

I believe the speedy recovery is due the to TLC and nutritional advice from the in house specialist:

While waiting ever so patiently for the results at the doctor's office this afternoon, I was almost able to complete to my mittens. I am very pleased with the results thus far. As soon as I recover my darning needle, I'll be able to weave in all those pesky ends.

I really love the Yin and Yang effect with my colour choices:

I will be kept very warm for the remainder of the winter months.

Speaking of lost articles.....
I cannot find that dreaded pager anywhere. I swear to you, I didn't lose it on purpose. I suspect it escaped it's handy dandy case as my travels took me all over town today. Unfortunately, all emergency calls are being forwarded to my cell phone. At least the ring tone is not as startling.
I have had quite enough adventure for one day. I'm off to catch up on some episodes of Diary of a Call Girl.
Enjoy your night everyone.
