No More Tube

It was a very successful visit to the doctor's office this afternoon. Husband no longer requires a draining tube. I have also noticed that he is not making as much noise when he gets up from a sitting position.
I have to warn you all though, the next pic looks kinda gross. There is now an additional hole in the man's body.

I believe the speedy recovery is due the to TLC and nutritional advice from the in house specialist:

While waiting ever so patiently for the results at the doctor's office this afternoon, I was almost able to complete to my mittens. I am very pleased with the results thus far. As soon as I recover my darning needle, I'll be able to weave in all those pesky ends.

I really love the Yin and Yang effect with my colour choices:

I will be kept very warm for the remainder of the winter months.

Speaking of lost articles.....
I cannot find that dreaded pager anywhere. I swear to you, I didn't lose it on purpose. I suspect it escaped it's handy dandy case as my travels took me all over town today. Unfortunately, all emergency calls are being forwarded to my cell phone. At least the ring tone is not as startling.
I have had quite enough adventure for one day. I'm off to catch up on some episodes of Diary of a Call Girl.
Enjoy your night everyone.

Two Tubes In, One Goes Out

Husband went to another doctor's appointment today. It went awesomely. Is that a word? According to spell check, it isn't. Ah well. You get the geste. Anyways, the doctor noticed that the swelling and redness has gone down quite a bit.

CAUTION!!!!
What some people find fascinating just may make others hurl. The next picture is a bit graphic and not for those who get queasy easily!

He removed some of the tubing from the leg. The IV needle is now gone. This makes things so much easier.

I made another attempt at trying to release my mitten from its knot.
It is not going very well.

I hate to do this, but I may have to call in some help from Mr. Scissors. I do not have enough yarn left for any mistakes. This could be very touch and go.

I will keep you all updated.

Rebel and Napoleon are calling me to the couch. Apparently there is an episode of The United States of Tara on On Demand that I have yet to see.
Good night all. Pleasant dreams.

Another Tube

We went to the clinic for another iv treatment. It was another nurse that attended to husband. She did not like the progress of the infection. I can't say I blame her. I haven't much cared for it either. The tension sock helped a bit, but not nearly enough. After the treatment, we went to the family doctor. Finally!!!! some results. I didn't go in with Husband. I decided to stay in the waiting room and work my mitten. I do not have pictures to show because I have this horrible tangle and I'm ashamed :(.
The doctor drew out the poison that was causing the infection and now there is another tube there to allow for run off. I don't have pictures of that. I just changed the dressing and cleaned it up a little so it would be more comfortable.

As you can see, the swelling has gone down immensely. Thank goodness. I was getting very worried.

They also prescribed some more antibiotics. These ones are taken orally. They should speed up recovery. He is also under strict orders not to stand, walk or basically move. He is not liking these orders, but the alternative is not an option.

We have caught up on all sorts of shows. We started watched the United States of Tara. I'm not going to spoil it. It is a show you have to see for yourself. Toni Collette is the star of the show. She is amazing in this role.
Anyways, I just thought I would share the results with you all. I'm off in search of some rye. I hope you all have a good night.

Day Three

We went for the third installment of Husband's treatment. The nurse did not like what she saw so she added something else to help things along. Now Husband is sporting a new tension sock to help circulation.

The swelling is going down a bit, but not as much as the medical staff would prefer.

But have no fear, Dr. Scraps is on deck to assist.

I'm all tuckered out from worry and am calling it an early night. This is so unlike me.
I hope you all enjoyed your week end and are ready to tackle a new week.

I've Got Drugs in My Pocket.....

Day 2 of Husband's predicament is going well.
The swelling has gone a bit. Apparently that is why the doctor drew on his leg. I find this very reassuring.

The cats are also dealing with this new situation quite well. Since Husband is not doing the main meal preparation, I've had to learn where the oven is. I have finally located it to be in the kitchen. Imagine my surprise. Before we were married, I lived on my own for quite a few years. I was able to provide myself with nourishment. Granted, it was not the calibre that Brian provides, but still, they were meals with vegetables and meat. I think the cats are just surprised. They do not really see me in that room unless I'm fixing myself a drink or making toast.

I did a little bit of knitting today while waiting for the iv to finish doing its thing at the clinic. I worked on those neato torpedo mitts I showed you the other day. Actually, I think it was yesterday. I had to put them down though because I had neglected to bring something along to hold the thumb stitches. I could have MacGyvered something, but I just did not have the imagination today. So, I finished my little part on the Travelling Scarf:

Just in time too because I had received another one in the mail to start:

I really like the colours of this one. They are all so bright and the stitches people chose are awesome. I hope mine returns to me like this one. It's just so much fun and I believe a true representation of the knitters that contributed. The lady whose scarf this one belongs to gave all of us carte blanche with regards to what she wanted. This gives me great pleasure as that is what my suggestions were when I sent mine on its merry little way.
I'm actually tuckered out. I'm off to bed. Good night everyone.

Oh What a Night

We have a little situation over here at Chez L. It would appear that Husband has gotten into a bit of trouble.

Caution............the following pics are not for the faint of heart. They involve tubes and body parts. (Nothing showing that your bathing suit covers, just arms and legs.)

As you can see, the leg is about five times the size it should be.

That was the doctor who drew a line around the sore spot, not me.........honest!

The doctors have put in a a shunt that will take the antibiotics right into the blood stream to combat the infection.

We will have to go to the walk in clinic for the next five days.
Looks like I have a new routine.
But have no fear, the doctors are in the house

As long as we follow their strict orders, and do not interrupt nap-time.

As you can see, there is still traces of yellow.

Since we are grounded, I will be catching up on some knitting and painting. I have managed to complete the baby niece's sweater and mittens.

I like that there were barely any seams. It mostly knit up as a whole.

This was actually quite fun. The colour is what attracted me to the piece in the first place. I do not wear a lot of hot pink, so I get to live vicariously though the little one.

I love the buttons.

At the moment, I have a few things on the go. I offered to help with a test pattern sometime last September, but I have discovered that i am a very slow knitter and probably not the best choice if you need speed.
This is the top view:

And this is the underside:

As you can see, I have a bit tidying up to do with the loose ends. I am a bit nervous because I suspect that I may run out of yarn at some point on the mate. If that proves true, then I will have to go with plan B. Actually, I will have to think of plan B.
Well, I am off to watch the move X files and work a few scarves. Have a great night everyone!!

My Truck Cried This Morning :(

According to the weather station, it was -28 C where I live. That is a very scary number. On the positive side, it gives us Canadians something else to brag about. If you ever have the chance to chat with a Canuck, ask them about the weather. We wear it like a badge of honour. The colder it is, the more we beam. Except you can't tell because we have so many layers on over our beaming. When I went to start the truck this morning, it made this weird whining sound. Then sadly, I realized it was me. I don't like the extreme cold. It hurts to breathe. Whatever opening I had is firmly closed in a protective stance. At least the days seem to be getting longer. It is not pitch black when I pull into my parking spot after a long at work. Well look at me being Miss Pollyanna.

Lately, I have been trying to play Wii Fit. We are not really on speaking terms. I think it mocks me, and enjoys it. You enter in your personal information, height, age, etc etc. It will then rudely calculate your body mass index and then meanly create your Wii player to reflect the findings. My little character is quite round. I don't believe I have ever sworn at an inanimate object so aggressively before. I wonder if they Wii therapy? Sign me up for that one please and thank you.

When I finally arrived home tonight, I had a wonderful parcel waiting for me:

Another installment from my Travelling Scarf group. I love this mail. It is 150% better than the usual bills I normally find in my mail box. I am not quite sure what I will contribute to this scarf. I will sleep on it and have a plan tomorrow.
I have also made some serious progress on the little sweater for my niece.

Just one more sleeve and voila. I hope it fits.

We also had quite the adventure at chez nous. It would appear that Napoleon and Rebel have a creative side.
It is a bit difficult to see but, on the bottom you see a weird texture that continues onto the green. I am not 100% sure but, I suspect they may be the artists:

Not the human one, but the fuzzy ones.

Exhibit 3-4:

You will have to trust me that there was a lot more yellow than is shown here. It was everywhere. The tub; the dining table; the carpet; for some reason on my keyboard; and for the love of Pete, I have no idea how they managed to get it on the ceiling.

I have had enough excitement for this evening. I'm going to plot against the evil Wii trainer. Have a great day everyone. Tomorrow is Friday then it is the weekend, or as I like to call it, the mini holiday.
