I Need to Make More Dolls

I was not a very happy camper today. I was awoken by the pager at the ungodly hour of 645. Someone had not shown to do their assigned run. No problem. The other drivers in the area were able to help out in that department. Thank goodness. I have very excellent people working with me in the summer months. It makes my job a hell of a lot easier. I went back to sleep only to be awaken again at 915. The police had located one of my buses in a field in the country. Great. That is what I want to hear with a head full of sleep. According to the police officers I was speaking with, someone (possible a group of individuals) had stolen a bus from one of our yards and decided to go joy riding.
People! Listen up! A yellow school bus is not the ideal escape vehicle. You can't miss it, especially when you have the school lights and alarms blaring. Please kindly avoid stealing my buses and go for someone else's vehicles. I don't sleep enough as it is and I really detest being woken for such foolishness. Thank you. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated by both myself and Napoleon whose sleep was also disturbed when the bloody pager went off yet again.

I will have you all know, that I am creating more voodoo dolls for the shenanigans that you have caused me on what was supposed to be perfect balcony weather!
On a happier note, I did some knitting. I had to kill time somehow while waiting for phone calls, providing statements, reassuring drivers of their whereabouts, et cetera, et cetera.
I started working on my Rattlesnake Creek, by Anne Podlesak socks for the Pentathlon group on Ravelry. I chose this particular yarn because it reminded me of a snakes colouring. OK, so the pattern is drawn from inspiration from a location and not a snake, I like the snake idea, so I'm sticking to it.

I went to my sock group at the local yarn store. The current sock we are working on are the Philosopher's House Socks from the Cat Bordhi book. It doesn't look like much now, but you can see the colour I have chosen:

I guess I have vented enough. I hope your week end is going much better than mine. I hope to enjoy my balcony tomorrow with little adventure to be had. I wish you all a good night.

Voodoo Chile

I have been scheming. Revenge if you will. Actually, it is more like just trying to take all this frustration I've been experiencing and channel it into something not so destructive. My version of a voodoo doll,
Voodoo Army Dude:

He almost did not make it to his destination. Rebel took a strange interest in him.

I am giving it as a joke gift to someone who I have deal with at work. He has to constantly change his plans because someone else is re-arranging theirs, which makes me have to create alternate plans. It is a vicious cycle.

Here he is supervising the work environment:

Bon voyage Army Dude. Enjoy your new surroundings:

On a side note, I have been working on my Dad's vest:

It is a very slow work in progress. I plan on making some serious headway this week end. It is supposed to beautifully sunny and warm. Perfect for balcony use.
Have a good night.

Summer Time

I love this time of year. I get super charged and feel like I can go on forever. This is the view from our balcony. It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood.

The weather was not all that favourable this week end until today. I'm on call for work, so it was probably best anyway. I completed my socks for the Pentathlon on the Ravelry group.
The rules state somewhere that a picture must be posted before 2359 on the last day of the second month. I posted mine at 2353. I was always one to work well under pressure. I was the kid in school who wrote their paper in the car, on the way to that class.
My supervision was close at hand to give me support:

It was a long haul.

Today was most excellent. I had on my favourite knitting tools:

Hubby on hand to keep me company:

There were only a few clouds in the sky and most of them were caused by jets and planes. I don't really know the difference. Hubby explained, but I had my earphones on and was rocking out while I worked on my father's vest.

It was much to warm for Rebel. He has pretty much remained in the same place for most of the week end. He actually hisses at sunlight.

We are going to rest some more out in the sun before it changes it's mind and hides on me. I also want to go and check out the fireworks at the fairground. I will take some pictures to show you if I can. Have a great Canada's Day!!!

So That is What Happens When I'm Not at Home!?!?

Another piece of the puzzle. I'm trying so very hard to finish off my Berlin socks for the Sock Knitters Pentathlon group on Ravelry, except I have hit a little snag:

I even have a witness and photographic evidence:

"Dude! What are you doing?"

"Nothing. I'm bathing"

"Ya right. Mom will neuter you"

"I believe she already did. Remember? Had that little nap in the car. Woke up and no balls. This is payback!"

"I'm staying over here. I refuse to be guilty because of association"

"Do you think she will really notice?"

I just finished watching The Wizard. Do you remember that movie? Big 80s flick. It was like a giant advertisement for Nintendo. I thought that movie was the shit. I recently bought most of those old skool games for PS2. Can you believe that? An awesome huge byte system and I play 2 bit games. Hehehe. I love it.

The week is almost complete. Tomorrow I'm looking forward to going to the track for a work thing. I enjoy that place. The track, not work. I remember going with my younger sister, father and great uncle many a Saturday night. Very fond memories.

I'm just going to try and settle down and watch Weeds. I am really getting into this show. I can't believe I missed so much of it when it started on television. I'm doing my very best to catch up on the many episodes I missed thanks to my friend PC. Have a good night everyone. Hope the rain doesn't drown you all out.

No Pink, But There Will be Purple!

I checked out my stash of hair dye. I have miscalculated the amount of pink dye I stored. I did however, find some ultra-violet. Guess what colour my hair is now?

I like the effect. I can hide it if I need to for whatever absurd work related reason. Most people are very OK with my odd choice of hair colour. I'm glad. I tend not to think of others when I do things for myself. I chose this bottle because of the name of the colour: Ultra-Violet. It reminded me of the movie with Milla Jovovich. The one line is what got me: "I can kill them". I love strong female leads.

See:

Colour hidden.

I have done a little knitting this evening waiting for the dye to hold. It's amazing what you can accomplish when a cool movie is on. We were watching Conan the Barbarian tonight. Wow, Arnold looked young. I don't think he knew much of the English language when this was made. I think you can count on your fingers the amount of words he spoke.
I worked on my funky mittens but had to lay them aside because they make excellent pillows.

After my mitts were commandeered, I worked on my Berlin socks again.
Remember these:

I've done four repeats. I think now I will begin the heel. Before, I felt they were too short. I like a sock to have a bit of length to go over my ankle comfortably. Not much else happened this week end. It was very quiet. I enjoyed it so much because now with the summer holidays soon here, I will be on call more week ends because the other dispatcher goes for the month of July. I take my quiet time when I can. Hope you are all well.

Please Release My Yarn

I have found some yarn (no not in my stash), to make my Dad a vest for Father's Day/Birthday. It may be perceived as cheap, but it's much easier to find something really cool to celebrate both occasions. His birthday is only a few weeks after Father's Day. It's the same with my Mom. Her birthday is a few weeks earlier than Mother's Day. Unfortunately, progress has been halted. It would appear that this yarn is super comfy as a bed.

You will get this package when I am ready to give it to you!

Rebel is not happy he lost some of his bedding. This is his very serious ticked off look.

I thought the colours would work well for my Dad. The picture does not do the colours justice. It is actually a more blue tint than what my camera is showing. Most of the clothing he wears is the colour of mulch. I'm sure he will be pleased.
I'm trying to negotiate for the release of the rest of my yarn. It's not working. While I am negotiating with the super tough napper, Napoleon is hunting bugs. He just loves to follow it into exhaustion. I feel sorry for the little critters.

I've also been working on my top secret project:

You smart folks out there will probably guess the project. As long as I don't spill the beans, I'm sure we'll be fine. I absolutely love these colours. If I'm ever trapped in a snow storm, they'll know where to find me. I hope I didn't give away the secret.

I am looking forward to summer. Hopefully things will settle down at work and I get the tasks completed that was due in January.

Tomorrow is Friday thank goodness. I have nothing planned but some serious cleaning and perhaps some quality time with the video games. Hope you are all well.

Awesome Week End

I hate having to go to sleep on Sunday's. My brain just won't shut off for me to relax to actually go to sleep. I had a marvelous week end. I went with my friend to some very cool stores. (yarn stores of course!). The weather couldn't be better. We were expecting rain, but it never showed. It did make several appearances today. At this very moment we are getting a super cool lightning show. I hope I don't lose power before I finish telling you all what I did.

First we went to The Purple Purl in Toronto on Young St. The lady, Jennifer, was a very inviting hostess. You feel so welcomed as soon as you walk in. You sadly don't get that vibe in too many stores. Here are the treats I found there:

The electric colours are for a mitten pattern I'm pretty sure I can't tell you about. I'm not sure of the rules and I don't want to be the one to break them. All I can say is there is wonderful girl on Ravelry who was asking for some help to test out a pattern she made. So far, I'm really enjoying it. I think it's the colours that seal it for me. Those needles are fun. I just tried them out tonight. I wasn't sure how I would like them. I was worried about the joint between the bamboo and the connection to the wire. I thought they would snag, but so far so good.

The weather was most accommodating, making the drive to Brantford very pleasant.

There was quite a lot to see on the way up there. This store caught my eye.
Couldn't miss the pink building now could you?

I had a great time at this place.

There are two sisters who run the shop. Both are very helpful and knowledgeable of everything they have in there, and there is so much to look at. I had a very difficult time leaving. These are the treats that made it into my hands to the cash:

And they provide this tote to help you carry your stash. With the purchase of it, you get a discount for the year. Damn good deal I say.

I can't wait to start these projects. I'm seeing a top and lots of socks in my future. I will have all summer to work on these.

Everything was Napoleon and Rebel approved. I'm going to have to keep a strict eye on those two. The love to felt yarn. It's not intentional, they just love to lick things.
Napoleon is more of a hands on type of admirer. Rebel likes to admire from afar.

While I was away for the day, hubby told me he weighed the two of them. Napoleon is at 14lbs and Rebel has slimmed down a bit, 28lbs. The diet is working!

After we made it to the Scarborough Town Centre to the Knit in Public display.
I was glad to see all these knitters and crocheters about. We were given free yarn as a thank you for coming:

I might make a little sweater for the baby niece with it, not sure yet.
It means that this is a craft that is here to stay. It's not just something your grandmother does anymore. I still get those comments, but it's hard to take them seriously when I have pink hair and funky stuff on the sticks. I'll show you a picture of my pink hair later. The light is very poor here today with all the dark and rain we've had.
Hope you all had a great week end and Monday is not too rough for you all. Night.
