Playing in the Dirt

About a week ago, we went to a farm called Ferme Guyon. It is like The Major Garden Centre for this area. You name it, they have it!. Without even realizing it, we had spent the entire morning in this creative idea centre.
We wandered around the nurseries, discovering all sorts of wonders.

We even found a honeysuckle plant to compliment the one that is already in our garden.

We spent a bit of time in the Butterfly conservatory and made a few friends.

We also found a few decorations to place in out garden!

After arriving home we lost no time putting things in the ground. With the weather being so sketchy, I did not want to be left with all these pots out in the rain.

The only ones not happy with the day were Napoleon and Reno who hate to miss out on all the activity.

We Are Moving Slowly..

..but at least we are moving forward.
Our kitchen and the Little Man's room are showing some progress.
I recently added a coat of primer to his walls,

and Hubs installed the vent over the stove top, so we can close up the floors very soon!

Napoleon and Reno loved all the activity.
They are strangely attracted to the sparks that were flying off the chimney part.

It is so pretty!! How do we get to the fire part?

Rebel and Tom were having none of it.

Are you two crazy? That is fire! That is hot stuff. Like the sun. I am staying here in my super secret safe spot.

I don't know what this is. I do not like it!

Napoleon was ever so helpful when it came to planning out where the holes would fit so we could access the vent a little easier.

Is this the way to get to Narnia?

The light was also installed in the master bedroom.

We still have lots to do, but I love how things are slowly coming together. It will just take a bit more time.

After all the renovation I like to go back to my area of expertise, knitting!
I did complete my Necker socks.

I had to unravel the cuff because I did run out of yarn. I am happy that they fit and they do look good!

I also sewed a little bed for the ferret, Fouine.

I think she likes it!

After all this hustle and bustle though, we do need a good night off.
I think I am going to take Reno's lead.

Accomplishment

It really is a wonderful feeling when you complete a project. You get to say, I made that! Or I designed that! or Look what I built!
I get that proud feeling every time something is cast off the needles, or taken off the hoop, comes out of the oven. I love that feeling. So much so, I can hardly wait to post pictures here for you all to see!
I completed a sweater for the little man and I think the only thing that makes me more happy than the completion of a project is the smile on the recipient's face.
Men's Pullover, finally completed:

I was hoping to finish it before the warm weather hit and he outgrew it.

I was trying to explain that sentiment to the Little Man. That feeling of accomplishment. Right now he is in this stage where if it takes too long or he struggles, he does not want to do it all. So I suggested he make supper one night. He is capable. He can look for ideas and recipes online. If it works, great. If not, that is ok too. At least you give it a shot.
This is what he created the other night:

It is tofu, potatoes, and veggies.
It turned out really well. I wish I could tell you what he did to the tofu, but he didn't actually explain it. All I know, it was good.

Since the boys now each have a sweater, I am making a sweater for me.

I love that Malabrigo stuff. It is like knitting with butter. So soft....

I have also made significant progress on my socks,

There must be a support group for people like me out there. I am so worried I will run out of yarn. This is the second time I have had that horrible feeling.

Since we are having quite a bit of rain, I will finish my laundry and watch a little Orphan Black.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!

I Think I See Spring?

Yes that is definitely Spring out there.
Even the cats are startled.
Napoleon is suspicious and has not left the patio doors since that strange green stuff has made an appearance.

Tommy, I believe is just relieved that Napoleon's new guard post has granted him a reprieve of his scary play antics.

Rebel is trying desperately to find a new dark place to rest.

I have no idea where Reno is at the moment. Since we had introduced him to the cat grass, he has been jonesing for another fix.

With the Spring season arrives my mom's birthday. We decided to surprise her and pay a quick visit over the week end.

Mom surprised us by showing one her afghans she has completed.

That will fit a queen sized mattress.

Mom also showed the Little Man a little bit of her guitar.

I think we need to find a music teacher now....
At least it was not the drums!

All in all, it was a wonderful time.

Upon our return, I received more of my seeds in the mail.

I am very grateful that they placed these Orange Thyme seeds in a white envelope or there would be no way for me to see them properly.

I have also been working on a few projects:

Jacob's sweater:

That is the view of the front and back.
I think I will need to order more red. It would seem the boy has had a growth spurt since I began this project.

My Necker Socks:

Finally, my Contemporary Cat cross stitch!

Slowly but Surely seems to be my new motto.

I hope all is well with you!
See you later.
