Old Skool

This is my new favourite obsession:

It is a Duo Retro Gaming System.
I have been playing Link for days now.

Have any of you watched the season finale of American Horror Story: Asylum?
Am I alone when I went, Ok, wait, What?
I'm not going to spoil the show for everyone. I just want to know that I am not alone.

Sinister!
Oh Boy!
This was incredibly spooky for me. During most of the film I was at the edge of my seat.
I had to keep reminding myself, it's ok. Breathe. It is only a movie.
I loved it!

On the domestic front, I made cookies again.
These turn out great.

They are called .

I did not have enough chocolate chips, so I used some butterscotch chips as well.

The meeting that ensued after concurred that I should make these again.

I hope you are all having a great day!
See you later.

I Missed You Internet

I have learned that when you have extreme cold in my neck of the woods, you lose power, a lot, and frequently. When this happens too frequently, it makes the tiny box that makes my pc operate die a slow and powerful death. Then, we need to call our internet provided at least four times. After an indiscriminate amount of time, they mail you, through snail mail, another little box.
End of the story: my internet is back.

When I don't have the internet for a few days, I get really crafty.
While everything withered on Farmville, this is what I was doing:
Walking the Walkers, from Bohemia Fibers

is becoming Cat Bordhi`'s Dove socks.

I watched a lot of films, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Dark Knight Rises, The Rum Diary, The Hunter, The Grey, My Week with Marilyn, and The Leafs.
While dong that, I drew and worked on my cross stitch.

I also started playing Folklore on PS3.

I have also been working on Cafe au Lait Mitts

Lastly, Hubs Christmas present finally arrived!

It was created by the fine folks here at Symmetrical Pottery

I guess I need to take a holiday from the internet more often.
Lesson learned Mother Nature. Thank you!

I hope everyone is staying warm and having a great day!

Happy New Year!

Congratulations!
We made it 2013.
Hubs, the boy and I spent a quiet New Year's with my parents in Ontario.
We had a great time.
The boy found a belated gift from Pere Noel at my parents' home.

It was put to good use for most of stay!

Little man explained 3D to my mom.

We ate, drank and were merry!

Now it is time to get back to realty.
Everyone has returned to work and Little man will return to school next week.

According to the weather report, it is -20 C today.

Since it is my day off, I will enjoy my Candy Cane flavoured coffee,

Try not to burn my pizza bread,

Finish laundry and work on my cross stitch.

I think there may also be another Harry Potter film for me to watch today.

Have a good day everyone!

Is Anyone There?

Did anyone else survive 21/12/2012?
Good! I did as well,

I even snapped a photo to commemorate the occasion.
With the survival of 21-12 out of the way, did you make through the Christmas season? Hopefully unscathed.
I worked. A lot.
But I really don't mind because it does take some of the stress away from the holidays. I am not obligated to keep up appearances at family gatherings until I am ready.
Here are just a few pics of our Christmas morning.
This would be after I walked through the door changed from scrubs to PJs.

I was ready on Boxing Day to have our little supper. This time I made sure to take pictures unlike Thanksgiving where I was so nervous I did not even want evidence.
Little Man's Loot,

Santa dropped off a little aquarium for Bluet the Beta.

The Shark was the highlight and was the subject of many photos!

The Little Man was indeed over the moon!

I have to show off my present!
Hubs made this!!

I almost do not want to use my cutting board. It is too much like a work of art for me. He made that happen though because the other cutting boards have mysteriously disappeared....

Sadly, Hubs was only able to open part of his gift. We have to wait for Canada Post to open so he can enjoy the other half.

After the chaos under the tree, I made a Christmas breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast and hash browns. Little Man then went to his mothers to do things with that side of the family and I started the prep work for our big dinner.

Over the course of two days, my kitchen was in utter bedlam. I was true to my genes and used every dish, pot and pan in the house.
Photos best describe I think...

Cabbage and carrots shredded for the coleslaw,

done with my food chopper!

Bread cubed, with mushrooms, sausage, onions, various spices and beaten eggs for the dressing.

Spaghetti squash all chopped and ready to boil.

Same with the potatoes,

Finally the bird with all sorts of spicey goodness rubbed in..

From my family to yours, Merry Christmas!

Wait!

What do you mean?
It's done?

I didn't cause nearly as much damage as I wanted to...

Cheers! Here is to the start of a great New Year!!!

Cookies

It's that time of year where we try to get a little more creative and a little more festive.
This week end we managed to finally decorate the Christmas tree.

We have a light out somewhere on the bottom the string, Hence the feet.

The final result:

I made cookies today. Peanut Butter Brownie Cookies,. I found the recipe on Allrecipies.com Mine do not look like the picture. They do however taste really awesome.
The ingredients:

This is the part where they do not look all that appetizing.

Then we add the peanut butter mixture,

Sort of look like weird nipples eh?

When the instructions say the mixture is sticky, they are not exaggerating.

They are now cooling

The end result:

I found them to be a lot of work, but a blast to make. I'm not sure I will make them again anytime soon.....

Tomorrow is Harry Potter, knitting and Cranberry bread.
Have a good night all!

Completed.

I have finished my Day of the Dead mittens.

My only complaint is that they are slightly too snug to be worn comfortably by me. It is a good thing that there is another able body person who will enjoy them immensely!

Next on the docket is Café au Lait.
I like these smallish projects to take with me to work. I need something to do on my lunch hour. Reading relaxes me too much. Not good for night shift.

These are a few tunes I've been listening to lately. Just songs that make me move!

Old Skool!

I've Been Crafty!

I have started watching this show, Supernatural. How have I not seen this series before? It is right up my weird, making me think, so I do not sleep properly, alley. While I am watching this show, I have been making progress on my cross stitch.

Since my cross stitch does not travel well, I have been working on my mittens while on break at work.

As you can see, I just need to complete the top of one and knit the thumbs for both.

Since my security detail has decided I have been staring at this box long enough,

Holy Crapizoid, my desk is messy.

I am off to enjoy my pomegranate!

Cheers everyone!
