OMFG

....finally!!!

Believe it or not, I'm not as techie as I make myself out to be. I struggle big time when something goes wrong with my PC. I actually get very anxious and concerned that I might have done something so horrible that I lost my Internet. I spent the better part of yesterday and today trying to find my lost sound. My sound was working on all the Windows accessories, Itunes and Explorer, but not with Firefox. I was googling like crazy trying to find out how this happened and how I could fix it. Apparently my C drive was hanging out with a bad influence and became corrupted. That is where Firefox is hanging out. I tried that thing where you run a chkdsk but to no avail. I tried to restore my activities to a previous happier time, but my PC would have none of that. I shut down and restarted countless times. Nada. Then while I was in the shower, I had a brilliant idea! After all, I do most of my good thinking in the shower or while driving. Check for updates!! Lo and behold. I updated to the newest version of Firefox and once again I can hear all that is going on in the cyber world. Crisis taken care of.

Even Rebel was impressed:

OK he's not really. actually he is rather annoyed I woke him from his twenty hour nap.

To celebrate my victory over the machine, I made my fried rice and hamburger dinner. Watched Van Helsing and worked on my painting:

Now I'm going to brew some tea and revel in my victory. See you all later. :D

Out of the Pool

I woke up yesterday to a few very wet cats. At first I thought I left the lid up on the toilet. If it is not closed, they will play in it. Once in a while, I will put some water in the bathtub and let them splash around. They are not your typical felines.
I'm not really the most awake person in the morning hours. I laid there trying to figure out where the splish splish sound was coming from. Finally Napoleon came sliding out of the bathroom and I had my answer. The toilet was leaking. There was about an inch of water on the floor. I mopped it up, put on coffee, got dressed and wrote out the details for the super. As I left, I explained to the gremlins that the wading pool may be going at some point in the day and strangers would be coming into their sanctuary. I'm not sure if they understood. They gave me the same look when their dish is empty. The joy of living on the top floors is they will always fix leaky stuff before it travels down to other units.
Off to work I go with worries about who would be in my home and if I should make floaties for the gremlins.

Work is a weird state right now. We are in limbo waiting for the routes to come in and be mapped before the start of the school year. It is getting freaky close to the deadline. They hadn't arrived today so I was making all sorts of little projects for myself to keep busy.

Someone had made a drop off box for the driver's to put their paperwork in. I can't have it just plain. That would be boring. So I had a bit of fun with it:

I was very well behaved. There were no obscenities anywhere on the box!

When I arrived home, I was greeted by two dry cats and no wading pool. All in all, was a good day. I wonder what is on tap for tomorrow?

Just Some Items..........

.......that aren't necessarily connected but part of my little world.
It has been a very long time since I made an afghan. I thought I would give it a go. Due to the very warm weather, I'm just knitting in long strips and will attach them later. I would like to show you pictures, but Rebel and Napoleon have different ideas.

While knitting, Napoleon likes to try and suck on the needle.

You can't even see the colour at this point.

When I am not knitting, Rebel has commandeered the part I have worked on.

Apparently it is quite comfy, cumbersome needles and all.

I was tired of having to defend my little project so I decided to play Wii. I have yet to figure out how to connect all my systems to the television, so I just plug whatever one in I need at the time.

Napoleon is quite helpful.

It is difficult to get back there.

In my email box this morning, someone sent me a weird little tidbit of information. The month of August in our current year will have 5 Tuesdays, 5 Mondays and 5 Sundays. The little note at the bottom said this is a rare occurrence and will not happen again for 800 years. This led me to wonder what other weird little things happen in August. I love Google for this reason. I learned that little tidbit is not actually that rare, although it is fun. The next time this will happen is in 2023. The site I stumbled on is called OMG Facts. On that page it went on to explain that the number of days works in a cycle. In 2009, there were 5 Saturdays, 5 Sundays and 5 Mondays. That is pretty cool.

Another weird little thing I have discovered is close to home.

I don't know why, but for some reason, Rebel and Napoleon have taken to leaving one kibble in their dish after every meal. I'm sure there is a reason for it, but hell if I can discern it.

I'm going to read my book outside with my coffee before the skies open. I hope you all had a wonderful week end.

Some Lights....

....are pretty scary. Like for instance this one:

This is a pricey little light. It means that I have a list of things that need to be looked at for my vehicle to be road worthy once again. I have found a great mechanic and things will be back to operational before too long.

On a happier note.....
I finished these:

Home and Hearth Anklet socks designed by Cat Bordhi. I used a very bright blue Malabrigo Yarn. I think the only way to make them brighter is if they glowed in the dark.

Well the time is 22h50. I'm listening to very young children scream and run up and down the street on some sort of electric car. I guess their parents do not know the rule of when the street lights come on you are to be indoors. I'm just happy I don't have to work in the morning like some of these kind folks.

I'm off to watch a movie on television. I hope you are all enjoying your week end so far.

I did stuff today

I woke up at my usual 13h00 time. This feels much better. That whole awake before noon concept was starting to bother me. I watched the neighbours from my balcony with a cup of coffee while reading and wondered what to do today. I like to start small on days like these.

I began with a bowl of soup:

We made this when my friend was over on Thursday. It was so freakin' cool. I had no idea my stove was capable of such feats.

While that was heating, I made chicken salad:

There are cut up bits of chicken, chopped celery and egg yolk in that mix. Cannot have egg white. We do not speak very well. That whole death deal that the egg whites have just puts a damper on things.

It's a good thing my supervisors were on hand to assist.

Who knows what shenanigans I would get up to.

In this mix is salad dressing(mayonnaise)and sweet relish.

Not much too it, but tasted very good!

Then if I wasn't domestic enough, I finished a sock.

Home and Hearth Eyelet socks from Cat Bordhi's book.

I think it's a pretty cool pattern. It reminds me of a spine.

I was finally able to get to my homemade ice cream, so I finished my day with a bowl of mint chocolate chip! We made this as well on Thursday. :)

Words cannot describe how good it is.

That was my day. I'm not sure what is on tap for tomorrow. I guess I will figure that out when I wake up tomorrow.

This is what I've been listening to while I wrote this. I find it catchy.

Summer Holidays

I am having a great time. I'm not really doing much, but maybe that is the point?
I have just been eating when I'm hungry and sleeping when tired. I feel so much better as a result. Even at this very moment, it is 10h30 and I'm awake. I went to bed around 05h00. I feel quite rested. If only I could incorporate this into my work week. The only glitch is asking small children to become vampires. It might happen. Also, the fact that I'm not really worried about anything helps. I say not really because I am always worrying about something. I just try and keep it in check.

Saturday some friends stopped by with a few movies and CAKE!!!

Rebel and Napoleon love it when visitors stop by, especially if these visitors are not accustomed to stalky, fuzzy children. If for some reason you ever visit me, never, ever, ever put your plate down. Think of it as being at the bar. Once you set down your drink, consider it gone. I think Rebs and Napoleon had a piece all to themselves. It is amazing what a little bit of sugar does to them. It was like a hurricane ran through my tiny apartment. Rebel even jumped up on the table. You have no idea how impressive this feat is. It takes the cranky old man twenty minutes to negotiate the 4" step out onto the balcony.

I finally completed my pattern for my sleeveless sweater!

I am in the process of adding it to Ravelry's database. I can't really remember how I added the last one.
Here is the Ravelry link thus far :)

I also noticed that my name has the married name. I'm trying to change it back to my maiden name, but not having much luck. I'll try when I'm not on holiday mode and less filled with rye.

I had a great visit with my parents the last couple of days. We just sat outside talked about this and that. The cookie companies have changed their packaging so they are trying to under the little guy. The neighbours are into some sort of shenanigans. Unfortunately, the rest of the conversations were coloured with a lot of beer and wine, so the details are a little fuzzy.

Birthday :)

Before I went to bed last night (early this morning), I thought it would be really weird celebrating my birthday by myself. I'm glad I was wrong. I have made a lot of awesome friends who have destroyed that weird feeling. I am having a great day. I am at work, and maybe that has helped a little. I've been kept pretty busy what with everyone else on holidays. I've been doing my work then a few other tasks that I'm not used to completing.
I shared a nice Bailey's cheesecake with everyone. Lots of wonderful people have given me best birthday wishes. I'm even going out at some point this week end...maybe. lol. I still get very nervous about venturing out of my comfort zone. Those little steps are becoming larger steps though!
My holidays are drawing closer. I don't really have a lot planned. I just want to visit some people and try something that I wouldn't normally do. I'm not sure what that is yet. I am open to any ideas that you may like to share.
I am going to close up shop and head home. I hope you are all having a wonderful day.
