Is It Friday Yet?

Perhaps it's just me, but this week has particularly long. I was absolutely swamped at work. We are down on staff members due to illnesses and cheap travel accommodations to warmer places. I have been playing catch-up all week as a result. I think I should follow Rebel's lead and hide out until it all goes away.

On a more pleasant note:
  • It will be Friday in under a minute.

  • I have received a mail package that does not require payment to be made.

  • It was a scarf from the Traveling Scarf group on Ravelry!

  • I'm sleeping very well at night because I am actually tired.

  • I have started a scarf that I think will make someone very happy. That someone is me by the way. :)

  • My truck will be cured and have heat on Saturday!
  • I came across a web site that offers a cure to a very difficult week.

Has anyone else noticed that people have been exceedingly bizarre? I'm going to go now and do some research and see if a full moon is in order.
Hope all of your weeks are progressing a little more calmer than mine. Stay well everyone. :)

Another Addiction?!?!?

I have stumbled onto another world of addictions for myself. Its on Facebook. It's a very cool RPG (role playing game) called Elven Blood. You create a party; Do quests; Level up; Make Friends; Shop; and omg, so much more. I barely sleep as it. This is going to provide me with endless hours of stimulation. If anyone is already a part of that game and need new members to join their party, hook me up. I'll be glad to lend my services.
I have started the final sock in the Pentathlon group on Ravelry. I love it. When I first saw all the little charts and symbols, I was very hesitant. Once I dove in, it proved much easier than I could ever imagine, (and I have a very vivid imagination!). What else is super cool, is the author of the pattern was kind enough to provide photos of what the stitches were. I am very much a visual person, so this was a huge help.
Here is my progress so far:

I have to be careful and mind my stitches. I was watching a movie called The Go-Getters, and found I had to re do a number of rows. If you haven't seen this movie, I think it would be one to look out for if you ever find yourself in the video store. Without trying to spoil if for you:
The main character steals a car from car wash where his friends works. He needs a set of wheels to find his half brother to give him the sad news that their mother has died. The owner of the car, ends up calling him on her cell phone. (It's in the car.) The develop a very odd relationship. Her conditions she provides him to follow are as follows: He telephones her and tells her of his adventure. She will be entertained and not report the car stolen. It's an odd little affair. Very fun to watch though.

Since is just teeming in rain today, we stayed in and did laundry. Since none of my articles are put into the dry for fear of shrinkage, everything is hanging from whatever bar would provide enough support.

On one of my lunch hours this past week, I found myself once again in a yarn store. They were having a sale on sock yarn!!!!
I adopted these:

Not the clearest pics as I now see, but you get the idea.

Well I guess since I have shown my laundry and yarn, that is about all for now. I hope you all enjoy your week end!

Gone By So Fast

We celebrated a very awesome Halloween. So many interesting visitors to our little abode.

Even Pyramid Head made an appearance.

Anyone who owns those cool boots is alright by me.

I'm not so sure how worried I should be that Napoleon befriended him so easily.

He's such a perfect little minion.

Rebel is above it all. He will be no minion to no one.

Today we just spent relaxing at the mall. A few purchases were made:
Nice little skirt for work.

A few comics to read.

Something shiny that just happened to fall into my hands.

And a warm hat for our winter walks.

I'm sure this is not a healthy behaviour.

I'm not sure how to break him of this habit.

The pattern was released a day early from the SKP group on Ravelry. There are a few unhappy souls. I can understand their frustration, but I just don't like to let little glitches like that bother me. It is only a contest afterall. It should be participated in with a sense of fun. People are taking this just way too seriously for me. I might feel different if I actually knitted to win. That is just not my style. My goal in this amusement is just to complete the socks in the alloted time. So far so good I might add.
This is the yarn I have selected for my socks. I used a varigated yarn for the Rattlesnake Creek Socks and found the cables to be lost. I have learned my lesson and will use a more solid colour choice.

I have done a bit of knitting this week end. I completed my section for one of the Travelling Scarves that I recieved in the mail the other day:

I also worked on my Sea Wool Bordello Socks.

I really like how these are going. The pattern is so simple but it doesn't appear to be as such.

I hope you are all enjoying your week end and the ghouls of Halloween did not do too much damage to your worlds.
Night all.

They're Here....

I love getting things in the mail. Especially if it does not involve payment. This delightful surprise was awaiting me upon my arrival home today:
Two scarves from my Ravelry Travelling Scarf Group.
Now then.....

What to do.....

What to do......

I am also pleased to announced.....Drum roll please.....

A pair of socks completed three days before the deadline.

I have no idea what possessed me to finish. This is very out of character. No matter. It is completed project I am pleased with.
Have a good Wednesday everyone. Just a few more days until Hallowe en. :)

Hmmm

Perhaps I won't be posting my finished socks seconds before the deadline. Once I managed to iron out the few troublesome details, I'm finding these troublesome Ziggy's to be moving right along!

Gosh that foot looks rather large. Well then, let's keep going and see what happens.

Napoleon is busy being guardian of the sock until it has a mate.

We had a great time at Octoberfist. It was held at the Elements club in Kitchener.

Aside from the fact that is was standing only, (I will wear more suitable footwear next time) it was awesome.

Nothing else to report for the moment I guess. I'm a bit anxious about going in to work tomorrow morning. I have no idea what my desk will look like, nor do I know what work has be set aside for me to finish. I would like to think that when I last seen my desk, it was clear and all files were taken care of. I doubt that is what I am returning to.

5 More Days Until Hallowe'en!!!

Sleep well everyone.

Been A Trying Week

I have not been feeling myself this week. I don't know who I've been, but it wasn't my main personality. It started with a very nasty cold last week end and went downhill from there. I haven't been to work all week. I've been literally floating around the apartment. The very nasty cold entered my ears on Tuesday and since then, I've been feeling surreal.
I did manage to catch up on all my shows. Being in a constant state of slow motion, allowed for such luxuries. It also allowed my wish list to get miles longer. I have caught up on all my episodes of True Blood. Now I am in want of the book series it was based on. I also caught up on Sancturary. Did you know it was first a series of webisodes? I had no idea such a thing existed. Now I have a whole new domain to conquer. Also caught up on Saving Grace, Weeds, Project Runway, America's Next Top Model. I may have a problem. Hello. My name is Jocelynn. I am addicted to television, and webvision, and reality shows, and and and.......

I have also completed one Ziggy sock.

I have started the mate. I will have to go back to this one and re-knit the band. I have made much too tight and I can't fit the bloody thing over my ankle. If it wasn't part of the contest on Ravelry, I would tear it back now. Since it is, I will complete the second, then do a re-fit. Well that is my plan for now. It may change by the end of the second one. I may just fire them to the back of the closet and hope they never see the light of day again. Then I will get filled with remorse at my lack of love for them and take them out. Apologize profusely and then lovingly re-knit them so they can be worn as they should.

OK
, enough with Cybil. My crack medical team has be on stand by all this week:

Rebel is just a bit annoyed that his little brother chomped clean through Turtle. That would be the object to our right. Froggy is still looking lickable. He has mounted a 24 hour surveillance on the premise while Napoleon rests from his hunt.

They definitely deserve some much needed R and R. Takes a whole Clowder to raise the dead.

I am very relieved I am feeling miles better. Tonight we are due to see Oktoberfist in Kitchener tonight. Husband has been looking forward to this even since he heard about it. We will be there with camera in hand to enjoy some great fights.
Hope you are all well. I wish you all a great week end.

Whoever Has the Most Yarn Wins................

..........and in this case, that would be Rebel.

It has been a very long week considering I was only at work for four days. I've been trying to be a good little knitter and get these Ziggy's off the sticks before the end of the month. This is the first pair of socks for this little Ravelry group that has given me a hard time. I'm on my third take now and I believe, I have finally got it:

I ripped them down once again and decided to hell with it. I'm going to do it right or not at all. So, I have re-casted and added six more stitches. I am so much happier with the result. The fit is more comfortable and I don't feel guilty anymore. I would hate to just finish them without any little love towards them. That just misses the entire point of a hobby. It is supposed to be fun. Something you enjoy to take the stress away from those little quirks of the day.

I love my drive into work as of late. So much colour and interesting things to see on the way.

Lately, I've been walking more as well. Last night, I was right into the Halloween spirit. Check out the moon. If that does not say Halloween, I don't know what does.

Well, okay, perhaps this:

Or this:

This week end, Husband and I will be celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary. It honestly does not feel that long. As both of us are sill suffering from these blasted colds, it will be very low key. So far, we have rented a few movies and I believe take-out will play a role.

Hope you all enjoy the week end. I know in my neck of the woods, it promises to be a very autumn day. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's night walk. Good night everyone.
