Is Anyone There?

Did anyone else survive 21/12/2012?
Good! I did as well,

I even snapped a photo to commemorate the occasion.
With the survival of 21-12 out of the way, did you make through the Christmas season? Hopefully unscathed.
I worked. A lot.
But I really don't mind because it does take some of the stress away from the holidays. I am not obligated to keep up appearances at family gatherings until I am ready.
Here are just a few pics of our Christmas morning.
This would be after I walked through the door changed from scrubs to PJs.

I was ready on Boxing Day to have our little supper. This time I made sure to take pictures unlike Thanksgiving where I was so nervous I did not even want evidence.
Little Man's Loot,

Santa dropped off a little aquarium for Bluet the Beta.

The Shark was the highlight and was the subject of many photos!

The Little Man was indeed over the moon!

I have to show off my present!
Hubs made this!!

I almost do not want to use my cutting board. It is too much like a work of art for me. He made that happen though because the other cutting boards have mysteriously disappeared....

Sadly, Hubs was only able to open part of his gift. We have to wait for Canada Post to open so he can enjoy the other half.

After the chaos under the tree, I made a Christmas breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast and hash browns. Little Man then went to his mothers to do things with that side of the family and I started the prep work for our big dinner.

Over the course of two days, my kitchen was in utter bedlam. I was true to my genes and used every dish, pot and pan in the house.
Photos best describe I think...

Cabbage and carrots shredded for the coleslaw,

done with my food chopper!

Bread cubed, with mushrooms, sausage, onions, various spices and beaten eggs for the dressing.

Spaghetti squash all chopped and ready to boil.

Same with the potatoes,

Finally the bird with all sorts of spicey goodness rubbed in..

From my family to yours, Merry Christmas!

Wait!

What do you mean?
It's done?

I didn't cause nearly as much damage as I wanted to...

Cheers! Here is to the start of a great New Year!!!

Cookies

It's that time of year where we try to get a little more creative and a little more festive.
This week end we managed to finally decorate the Christmas tree.

We have a light out somewhere on the bottom the string, Hence the feet.

The final result:

I made cookies today. Peanut Butter Brownie Cookies,. I found the recipe on Allrecipies.com Mine do not look like the picture. They do however taste really awesome.
The ingredients:

This is the part where they do not look all that appetizing.

Then we add the peanut butter mixture,

Sort of look like weird nipples eh?

When the instructions say the mixture is sticky, they are not exaggerating.

They are now cooling

The end result:

I found them to be a lot of work, but a blast to make. I'm not sure I will make them again anytime soon.....

Tomorrow is Harry Potter, knitting and Cranberry bread.
Have a good night all!

Completed.

I have finished my Day of the Dead mittens.

My only complaint is that they are slightly too snug to be worn comfortably by me. It is a good thing that there is another able body person who will enjoy them immensely!

Next on the docket is Café au Lait.
I like these smallish projects to take with me to work. I need something to do on my lunch hour. Reading relaxes me too much. Not good for night shift.

These are a few tunes I've been listening to lately. Just songs that make me move!

Old Skool!

I've Been Crafty!

I have started watching this show, Supernatural. How have I not seen this series before? It is right up my weird, making me think, so I do not sleep properly, alley. While I am watching this show, I have been making progress on my cross stitch.

Since my cross stitch does not travel well, I have been working on my mittens while on break at work.

As you can see, I just need to complete the top of one and knit the thumbs for both.

Since my security detail has decided I have been staring at this box long enough,

Holy Crapizoid, my desk is messy.

I am off to enjoy my pomegranate!

Cheers everyone!

I Heard There is a Mouse

I will guard your stash.

Imma gonna stay in here.

Hickory Dickory Dock

The mouse went up the clock....
In our case the mouse went up the wall
to the shelf
to feast on Cat Kibble.
I realize that my version does not rhyme, but still tells the story.
I find it rather amusing that we have four cats and the mouse still thinks this is the house to have its little party.
To give the mouse some credit, the only cat that seems to have taken an interest in pursuing the little varmint is Napoleon. He has taken up a vigil next to the refrigerator.
Rebel will not leave the comfy confines of his new box.

Hubs has finished the roof of the garage.

This means that a place where I am finally able to paint is coming closer.

Little Reno is growing bigger and managing to get into all the little places I had no idea existed. I wonder if he invited the mouse to partake in a Kibble feast.

It looks like he is trying to hatch a plan with the ferret.

My Mom in law brought over a lovely pepper plant. I love plants and flowers. I just do not have any luck keeping them alive. I find it really difficult to protect them from our serial gardener, Napoleon.

At least I have a picture to remember the before shot.

There is way too much noise going on downstairs for one little cat. I'm off to investigate.
I hope you all have a great day!

Hallowe'en

This year I helped the Caped Crusader navigate through our little town and enjoy some trick or treating.

He was quite the hit with the town.

We even managed to shell out some treats for the kiddies with help from an aging rocker.

Our little entourage received quite a few looks.

Since this is my holiday week, I was able to visit with a friend.
Unfortunately, I was quite ill.
Nothing says thank you for having me in your home like preforming a technicolour yawn.
However, we did make Whole Wheat Apple Nut Bread with a bread maker.
Have you seen these things? They are amazing little machines. It's my ideal way to cook anything.
Put things in a machine and walk away for four hours.
I love it!

When I arrived home this was waiting for me:

This might make some pretty interesting socks.

On a completely different note:
Has anyone noticed how awesome television is becoming?
Television programs have pretty much evolved into mini-movies. It's great. At one point, the highlight for most people was to watch a bunch of strangers battle it out on an island. Adult version of Gilligan's Island with a game strategy thrown in. Then there were the decades of talk shows and soaps. The occasional comdey, but nothing really OMG! We have to watch the next episode. T.V. was meh.
Now we have zombies, electronic apocalypse, Sci-fi, bikers, para-normal and everything in between.
What is your current favourite?
I'm going to continue my cross stitch and watch Project Runway.
Hope you all survived Hallowe'en.
Cheers!

I Actullay Cooked a Chicken....

.....But there are no pics. I was too nervous to remember to take photos.
We celebrated a very quiet Thanksgiving. Just the five of us. Mom-in-Law joined our merry little party.
On the table were coleslaw, carrots, peas, mashed potatoes, dressing (stuffing), gravy, cranberry sauce and the chicken. All of which I made/prepared myself. I am pleased to note, there was not much left over. I figured it was a good little feast if the kiddos ate it without complaint. They even complimented me between mouthfuls!
Everything else has been rather quiet over here.
It was a very nice fall day yesterday so I got my butt in gear and actually planted tulips.

The before shot of my shoes...

And the after...

While I was playing in the dirt,

Hubs was working on the roof of the garage.

80 bulbs were buried!

Sort of looks like a weird burial site eh?

Little Reno is also growing quite a bit.

He is even learning to share,

That is MY bed Mister..

Now we go Trick or Treating?!?!

He is a difficult image to capture.

I'm off to sleep before work tonight.
Hope everything is good with you and yours!
Cheers!
